Let's say the IT world gets unionized on a large scale...in about 20 years, after the bloody and violent struggles, there will be movies made about us - just like what happened with the Teamsters.
Who knows - one of us here will one day be portrayed by Robert DeNiro, Joe Pesci, Ray Liotta, or Al Pacino!
Well, off the top of your head, name all the countries in the world that chant and shout and name of their country and their leader repeatedly in public events.
I heard on a radio program today that if all cars in the US would just reduce their fuel consumption by 8 miles per gallon, then we would no longer need to import Middle Eastern oil.
I believe Panasonic (Matsushita) is the only Japanese consumer electronics company still manufacturing in Japan for their US export line (even $30 portable CD players)
However, having seen their first generation of cars, I will never buy one. Becasue if they sold what they knew was crap once (and they DID know it), there is no reason they wouldn't do it again.
It was nary 20 some years ago that Honda and Toyota knew they had substandard vehicles, but sold them here anyway. They've certainly improved their respective qualities a little bit.
Well, according to the latest JD Powers 90 days study, Hyundai makes a better car than BMW.
You don't mass-sell a bunch of cars and give up 10-year powertrain, 6-year bmp-to-bmp, 5-year roadside assistance if you didn't have a halfway decent car.
Someone also pointed another Hyundai factoid to me the other day - they've almost tripled their sales in the US for the past few years, but their warranty claims have actually gone down.
Why did I bring this up? Kia is owned by Hyundai, IIRC.
Actually, a friend of mine does "scouting" for a living.
According to him, he's rather successful around the entrances to university bookstores, especially after some cutie's just got done plunking down +$200 for the semester's psychology textbooks.
It's nice to see stories like this - stories that can let the rest of us see the corporate conglomerates as the warm-and-fuzzy, civics-minded, environmentally responsible entities that they truly are...
Personally I think he will just decide to walk once he hits $1000000.
Anybody else notice his slight political slant that he lents into his comments? It was towards the beginning of his reign. But in the last couple of shows, he jokes that he is now in favor of the Bush tax cuts.
Speaking of which, does anyone else notice that Bush advertises on Wheel of Fortune and Kerry on Jeopardy?
At Brigham Young University, he was an English and computer science major. Being a nerd who also happens to know a lot about literature goes a long ways in Jeopardy.
My brother worked at Best Buy for the summer. Apparently, their service plan was for the total value of the purchase price - meaning the day PS3 comes out (assuming it's still within the bounds of the service plan), pour some water inside the old PS2, and return it for a full trade-in value of $149.99 (or whatever you paid for the PS2). That's how he was able to sell some of the service plans.
Look what's happening in Hong Kong this very moment where they are no longer allowed to choose their own leadership.
Actually, Hong Kong has never in its history of existence been able to select its own leadership. After being leased to the British from the Qing government, the British appointed its governors just like all its other colonies.
Last weekend, I was at a mall (in the US), and there was a Russian guy with a stall (the ones usually selling picture-on-a-mug or Oakley sunglasses) selling these Chinese-made game controllers, which just happened to have 100 NES games loaded onto its ROM. Only $49.99 and you can plug this controller into any TV and play things like Mario, Duck Hunt, etc.

99% of those will be dictatorships.

Amazing, isn't it?
The original cuts of Robocop, Natural Born Killers, and Kill Bill were given NC-17, until selected scenes were cut out.
"Are you Chinese or Japanese?"
"Actually, I come from a small Southeast Asian country called Laos."
"So are you Chinese or Japanese?"
So...the key to removing MS's dominance in North America is to draw a French flag for the US and a US flag for Canada?
First thing that popped into mind - Schwarzenegger's The Running Man. People would need "travel permits." Yikes.
Then thought about Hunt for Red October, where Sam Neill says to Sean Connery, "You can travel with no papers?" Sean Connery: "Yesh. No papersh."
Funny you should mention that - that too was created by tax payer's money (CIA)
And that also depends whether or not the IBM PR people count Mexico as North America.
The 2006 Ford Focus 5-spd with roll-up windows and AM/FM radio will be selling with an increased pricetag of $25,000.
According to the forum, a libpng vulnerability also just happens to crash IE.
My country doesn't have free elections, you insensitive clod!

INTC fell 10% today, despite profits (or was it revenues?) doubling. Good time to buy?

Are we still in America? What happened here?
Nothing happened. Nothing changed. Take away the massive winnings and everyone will suddenly stop watching him.
He IS awesome, though. I did my nerd bow when he pulled out his stuffed Totoro "good-luck charm."

RAR. 10MB chunks. Email attachment script. Bwahahaha.

And this stuff's coming to the US too!
