But you do have a sales tax. 8% if I am not correct. And those employees buy stuff, they pay property taxes, gas taxes and I bet they are even allowed to vote. I would bet these are high paying jobs who's money trickles down to the retail sector and pays for those jobs there as well.

The right wing blogs aren't asking for special treatment, they are asking for the same treatment. And from the article it is also for ads. Books ads are being reject based on political bias. Now thats fine. Google is a private company. But don't be surprised when it comes back and bites them. And the big thing I am talking about is net neutrality. I got a hard time with a company saying everyone on the Internet should be equal, when they discriminating the way they are.

You're not looking for a tax system to fund government, your're looking for a way to transfer wealth from those have earned it to those who have not, all in the name of equality of outcome. That is not fair. That is government theft so you can sleep better at night, knowing that everyone life sucks equally.

  6. Re:Flat Tax! on H&R Block Goofs on Its Own Taxes · · Score: 1

Huh? Why does the "Fair Tax" *require* a repeal of the 16th Amendment? The 16th Amendment merely *allows* congress to tax incomes, it doesn't *force* them to do so.

Cause if you don't your gonna wind up with a Fair Tax AND an income tax. Allowing congress to do something is practically inviting them to do it. Especially if it gets them more money to spend.

  7. Re:Flat Tax! on H&R Block Goofs on Its Own Taxes · · Score: 2, Interesting

How is that fair? Bill Gates deserves to have more of his income confiscated because... Really I want to know. How is taking more money from someone just because they have it fair? On the flip side, how do you justify giving government benefits to someone who has not contributed? In 2003 the top 5% of income earners paid 54.36% of the income taxes. The top 10% paid 65.84%. The top 50% paid 96.54%. That means the bottom 50% of income earners paid a whopping 3.46% of all income taxes. The only way this would be fair is if you vote's weight was directly proportional to the amount of taxes you paid.

Your not looking for a fair tax system, your looking for a way to feel good by kicking the rich in the beanbags. Go read The Fair Tax Book by Neal Boortz before you start ripping the Fair Tax as unfair gifts to the wealthy. It's an short (208 Pages) and easy read for small minded people like yourself. And take solace in the fact that Neal will have to pay confiscatory taxes on the money he makes on you.

It's one thing to not tolerate dissent. Its another to not have your dissentor's speak for you. Seriously, It would be like Bill Gates hiring RMS for a public relations postion at Microsoft.

And on your other points, there is plenty of dissent in the US, you are a prime example. Just cause they don't listen to you doesn't mean its a dictatiorship. The hand full of judges represent one third of the Appeals Court nominiees. And thoses judges that were "filibustered/vetoed" where really either blocked in commitee by a majority or voted down by a majority. A filibuster would have been a senator or group of senators holding the Senate floor, until someone cried Uncle, they collapsed or the bill was withdrawn. A veto is when the President rejects a piece of legistation. Niether of those were the case in the past. Now call me stupid, but I thought in a democracy, majority ruled. Of course to do that, there has to be a vote. And thats the issue with Bush's Judicial nominee's. They can't get a vote, cause if they did, they would win. And the only recourse is to stop the vote.

As an Alaskan, its either cable, satellite, or 2 broadcast channels. There is a lot of satellite TV in rural regions, and in the "metropolitan" areas there is pretty decent cable coverage. Broadcast TV is an entirely different matter. In Juneau, the capitol of Alaska, there are about four broadcast channels. In many of the rural areas there is one, and that comes in fuzzy most of the time. Pretty much if you want TV, your gonna have to pay for it. So pretty much we don't have the "protections" of decency standards that broadcast TV has. Though, I noticed on my cable box, and my Tivo, and my DVD player that they all have parental control features. I think if anything, we should mandate RTFM before you whine to your Senator. I sure as hell am calling both of mine about this.

So we aren't as much in the boonies that everyone might think. That being said, there are areas that have satellite TV, but no indoor plumbing.
