    No, we should support million of private citizen bloggers.
    There are already libel laws, no one needs laws requiring bloggers to have to register as journalists.

    In my opinion, what's wrong with the whole camera ticketing is outsourcing the job to a 3rd party company. Their interest is to get as many 40% ticket payments as at all possible, not to increase safety or work in the interest of the people. Local governments being allowed to outsource public functions is the primary cause of corruption in our country, and seldom if ever serves the public.

    THIS is the key here. Although the whole "surveillance state" is a close second...

    Plus, far too many authors are dead and their contracts included no mention of digital rights.
    There's going to be a huge number of out-of-print books that never make it into a digital format.

    Not officially at least...

  12. Stop making the PO pre-fund pensions forpractically hundreds of years in advance, and get rid of the pension plan and go to 401ks like most of the people have instead and the PO will be fine. Don't try slapping another tax on people to support the bad business decisions the US Congress forced on the PO.

    This, it's not censorship when a business doesn't want to publish a story if they feel it will hurt their bottom line.

    The only REAL power we have is the power of the dollar. If DC thought they'd not lose money, they'd not have dropped Card's story.

    Censorship is if the government said "No, you cannot say/publish it". Sort of like they already do with the FCC and radio and TV....

    If I'm only buying one or two items, Kiosk is usually faster, if I have multiple duplicate items, or 10 plus, if I don't get a discount for using the kiosk, then I'm using a cashier. If they don;t want to pay a human to cash me out and bag my goods, then I should get a discount on them. Otherwise, keep somebody employed and use a human cashier whenever possible.

    "I live in Japan and sometimes have to use Japanese Word 2007. On Word 97/2000/XP, for example, I wouldn't have the faintest clue how to change the page margins, add a table, etc etc etc. My Japanese doesn't extend that far."

    So you live and work in another country and haven't bothered to learn the language well enough to use a computer there?

    And the odds are good that the Generic stuff is the exact same formula as the Tylenol, and is made and bottled and packaged by the maker of Tylenol and the Tylenol costs the same to make, but people are awed by the big famous brand name "TYLENOL" and pay 2-3 times as much for the exact same thing...

    Not really, the poor rats also look for any excuse to sue, always grabbing for the quick buck rather than getting a job and earning their way like the rest of us.
