The vast majority of responders are taking this matter of fact tact with their commnetary, talking about how impractical they are, how "inapporpriate" they are for most of their common uses, etc.

I guess it sounds real practical and smart to only stick to the stats and tangibles... but they are completely missing the HUGE point of SUV's to ALOT of people:

    they are a status symbol.

People buy these to havw the best looking biggest vehicle out there. They are the same as sports cars, but justifyable to a family, dad, and even mom. Rich people will still buy them, they will continue to be low gas mileage, expensive to drive, and maybe not the best vehicle for the job.

But cmon, they are still the safest for the people inside, haul a ton of shit, are the best cars to drive from Los anegels to vegas in with a group of people, etc.

Would I buy one? No way... but It's naive to just do all this "im so practical" talk... it doesnt aknowledge the real market reasoning.

As opposed to how the actual despots in the regions of the world experiencing ethnic cleansing and warlords would act?

The US uses smart bombs designed to NOT kill innocent people, to save the civillian lives. it avoids churches (who am i kidding, mosques), etc. back in the day Hannibal would just start in the north and kill or enslave everyone till he hit the water in the south. Much closer but still back int he day, it was carpet bombing back to the stone age, sorry if we hit the daycare.

No other country has gone to such legth to try and only combat the enemy. unfortunately, the enemy knows that and blends in, uses civilians as sheilds, and pretends to be them, hides in mosques, etc.

Do you really think that swords is going to be fullt autonomous, like there isnt going to be a pilot to make sure. Of course there will be remote control to overide. While things like picking up a body or tracking may be automated, firing will have some sort of control, as do predators. Flight from gps point to gps point is automated, but theres a guy targetting and ultimately making the kill call.

In the end, I dont think we can call these "robots" in the sci-fi typical sense... they are a hybrid between remote control vehicle/aircraft and robot.

The component they seem to miss is the resolve of those people that know how to do it to not only adapt their system to access anything they want, but to then make the fix for it easily accessible to the masses. They are willing to write scripts, make interfaces, patches, websites, directions, etc so that anyone can do it.
