.. then some government agency needs to step in and verify that said software is safe for use, whether it's an app that diagnoses a heart condition in your grannie, or a pilot who relies upon an iPad for flight manuals. It was a few years before the FAA permitted iPads to be used in the cockpit and not just because of the supposed electronic interference.
Been there done that. It's too expensive now. Don't get me wrong. I LOVED flying my wherever I wanted to, just for the hell of it. Heck, I even took a girl hitch-hiking at the Aspen airport to Denver (and no, there was no mile-high club on that flight). Wonderful times *sigh*
My last employer used Nuance for voice recognition of 411 (information) requests from cellular providers. If we got a 40% recognition rate, we were doing pretty good. Keep in min that we were limited by such things as an 8kb bandwidth, environmental noise (radio, road noise, etc.) and various speaker accents. All together, 40% was pretty darned good at the time (5 years ago).
Only a few years back, the only viable option WAS dialup. I didn't want to pay $90/mo for satellite service and the propagation delay would make ssh sessions unbearable. So now I have a 900Mhz Motorola Canopy antenna pointing across the valley to a repeater which goes to another tower, etc. I get 1Mbs and I'm happy with that. Happier than dialip, for sure. And I can handle the $40 per month for this service.
Obligatory George Carlin quote:
"Saliva causes stomach cancer, but only when swallowed in small amounts over a long period of time."

Wow, that was a REALLY GREAT unpowered glide flight!!
Mod +1 Funny
"Eagles may soar, but weasels don't get sucked into jet engines".

And next you're going to tell me that Kepler didn't invent the space telescope.

So, the only thing "stock" is the lug nuts?
xyzzy
Will it turn off its turn signal?

In fact, it's cold as hell.
Twitter didn't build that.
This was entirely US based calls. The dictionary was comprised of millions of names.
I'm reminded of this this - especially around the 3:40 mark.

We're gonna need a bigger mouth.
Three chords and the truth.
