  6. A "different" Critical Thinking Skills on Texas GOP Educational Platform Opposes Teaching Critical Thinking Skills · · Score: 4, Insightful

I have a son who is autistic. Nevertheless, he recently complete a community college certificate course in Culinary Prep for Disabled Students. One of the major portions of the classroom study was "critical thinking" and covered:

Is this the right thing to do?
Is this the right time to do this?
Is this the right person to do this to/with?
    etc.

You get the point. Decisions that we make daily we tend to take for granted because of our (mostly) fully functional mental capabilities. Challenged persons do not have that same level and must be taught how critical thinking.

BTW, he graduated with honors and made me one proud Dad.

Once he figured out how to self replicate he was able to outperform all of his business competitors, winning every contract he bid for, building unfathomable wealth, beating the S&P 500 by 30% every year, and using his wealth to dominate the world's real estate markets.

I seem to recall reading a scifi book about this very thing a long time ago. Some young kid programs his computer to make stock trades on all of the exchanges until he eventually owns everything. Alas, the synapse that controls the title of that book has long since been fried.

I learned C programming from a great book by Stephen Kochan: Programming in C. It's imminently readable, practical examples, and doesn't read like a reference manual (e.g.: K&R). I also strongly suggest getting a good understanding of what's going on underneath the hood of a Unix system. Advanced Programming in the Unix Environment would do nicely.

From there you can branch to most any other language. But aside from assembler, C is closest to the metal.
