If you want a real treat, check out Harriet Klausner's reviews. She's Amazon's #1 reviewer and bugs the hell out of me. I browsed through a whole bunch of her 4000+ reviews one day and they all have the same features: 3 paragraphs (1 intro, 1 plot summary, 1 about how much she loved it). Then she gives everything 4 or 5 stars. The strange thing is that she would occasionally have read only the middle book of a trilogy or other sketchy things like that. Buncha crap if you ask me.

I've definitely noticed the effects of this update on some of my searches. There is one website that I tend to use a lot (from many different computers), and I used to be able to get it as the #1 google result with a fairly simple search. All of a sudden, it has moved to #7 with a bunch of absolute crap before it. Sucks. However, none of them seem to be there because of ads. Perhaps its some sort of algorithm change that has also affected standard results?
I think what you're looking for is PCI-Express. It's the next PCI and is really fast (in both directions). Interestingly enough, the PCI people are convinced that PCI-Express will be the next graphics port that will replace AGP 8x. This statement is given credibility by an nVIDIA press release that says they're starting to work with the PCI people.
The sad thing about Progress Quest is that it can be almost as addictive as Diablo (or similar games based on leveling up). But at the same time, it's funny as hell! "Oh look, I just got a +25 vicious biting poleaxe of destruction!!"
Did you check out the pictures in that schematic link? One of them has him with a charged rod that looks something like a lightsaber (he's standing on a plastic trash can so he doesn't get fried). The captions say to make sure to remove your watch, yet the guy in the picture is wearing his. Oh the irony. I suppose he's still alive though.
Not to nitpick here, but even if you could pack 1000 FPU's into an FPGA, there would be NO way you could feed them all with data. I've found that the thing that always limits performance in my digital designs is bandwidth, not speed.
Two of my friends love Shadows Over Mystara so much that when the local arcade was selling it, they bought it! It's scary how much they know about that game.
LOL If y'all can't get a Windoze box to stay up for more than a couple weeks, you're doing something wrong. Give me a little Cygwin install and I'm just as happy in Windows and Linux (desktop only).
*shrug* nVidia forces me to reboot... I've got no clue how long the sucker will stay up and *good god* a reboot once every couple months doesn't destroy my productivity. Just commenting that the dude calling Windows unstable is leaning hard on a crutch.
The little shot at windows is a bit unfair there. Have you tried out Win2k? I see uptimes of 60+ days no problem, and usually the uptime is only killed by a driver upgrade or some other reboot like that.:)
The funny thing is that the out-of-state students here at University of Delaware often won't believe this. But once they've had a few years here, they start to understand;)
Yeah, I tried all this and it didn't work. I think the L-Edit is just a piece of junk. Regardless, the VLSI class is long over now, so I'll never need to worry about it again.
The only problem I've had with XFree on Cygwin is when trying to run L-Edit - a semi-popular VLSI tool. It's got a thing where it won't run unless in 256 color mode. By setting the display to 256 colors in Sun or Windows/Exceed, it works well. But in Windows/Cygwin, it crashes as if it's in 16 or 32 bit color. Quite odd.
How about the lack of acceleration? That seems to be missing as well.

You're right, DirecTV DSL does rock. I use it and love it. A little more bandwidth would be nice, but I really like all the other features they have.

It could be pets-overnight.com if you've played enough Grand Theft Auto 3.
Yep, definitely possible. It uses capacitance to figure out when your fingers get close - down to a micron or two (if I recall).
It senses capacitance from the fingers getting infinitely close to the surface.

Oh my, looks like the server needs more POSIX/GNU/HURD threads itself
Choose to save those links in the parent instead of opening them - you'll get the shot to save the 13 MB video to hard drive :-P
Let's go warchalk/warfly/warbike/warwalk/wardrive it!
There are definitely better ways to spend down-time:

Think Quake 3:
There's some Arena tournament in outer space. Yeah, that's enough plot.
But still, it's an add-on that they don't approve of and can't block. Just a nice way to stick it to 'em. And no ads!
All you need to know is AIM+! Lots of cool new features, but uses the AIM binaries so they can't block it too easily :)
