IRC as a protocol and software stack is generally crap. While it was functional, a huge swath of IRC would have to be completely rewritten - including the underlying foundations - to turn it into a modern Slack or similar service. Honestly, it would be far easier to start from scratch than to base it on IRC. While a few things could be learned from how IRC was built, I wouldn't use that code as a base for anything.

They've already announced that the next FH launch will be to LEO, with a compliment of several separate satellites. Just because there's not a lot of LEO payloads large enough doesn't mean they can't put a bunch of separate payloads together onto a single launch.
I've been reading into this lately -- I do want an open source solution to this. I think the basic premise is quite useful.
Take a look at mycroft.ai. I haven't dug into it too deeply, and I can say that the speech-to-text runs through public cloud today due to a lack of current open alternatives - but the architecture is modular, open, and comes with (alpha/beta) hardware options if you don't want to go the route of mobile OS or raspberry pi.
Can't vouch for them, but I would probably be dumping a lot more time into them if I had it.
You'll note there's nothing to not believe. The journalist was simply pointing out that there is no apparent reason for this announcement to come from Intel's CEO while he's in the Oval Office. Nothing in the announcement, brief, or subsequent details suggests this has anything at all to do with Trump. Except the location of the announcement.

(1) Trump did something to prompt this decision. In which case, I would expect, based on Trump's personality, that he'd be telling everyone who will listen how he did it. (2) Trump didn't do anything except arrange for the announcement to come from inside the Oval. I personally think this is the case - it gives people (like you) that want to believe he's doing something a talking point, valid or not - and two, it gives Intel the perception of being both pro-trump and meh-trump at the same time.

This isn't about American jobs, its about screwing over people you don't like and trying to win political points with morons.
People have spent years getting those visas. People may have even been living the in US for decades. This is not a moratorium on new visas, this is retroactively screwing people who have followed the process to get into the US legally.
This is one of those cases where VC's are killing github. They should never have gone anywhere near VC money.

VCs will demand far more growth and market penetration than may be reasonable to expect... so you build a massive enterprise sales organization, burn cash like nothing else, and end up running a perfectly good, small company with solid revenues into the ground hoping to make billions instead of tens or hundreds of millions.
Lots of companies should go this route. Github was never one of them.
This isn't a bad thing. One of the more annoying things with oled at the moment is that while I have a gorgeous, 55" oled panel mounted on my wall, I can't get anywhere near the color and black levels on a desktop monitor without paying more than I paid for my TV.
Thankfully, they've ported the hub (and other tools such as the virtual keyboard) to android, and they're available on the play store. I've been using them for some time now - and the $1/month subscription fee is quite reasonable for what it gives me. I love the blackberry virtual keyboard, and the hub is far better than any other alternative that I've seen.
I wouldn't call one launch failure "regularly". If you want to be specific, he also had one "pre-launch test" failure. So two failures on the Falcon 9. Not bad for 28 launches, considering the rate they're improving.

The traditional products SGI was known for are gone... this new company, Rackable, which lifted the SGI brand in 2009, does some pretty interesting integrated rack products, both on density and power consumption.
What I don't understand is how HPE bought a company that did over $500M in revenue for $275M. This doesn't make sense.
Swiss voters said hell no to UBI because the proposal in front of them was complete and utter shite. There are many ways to implement UBI the concept. Just because it was (rightly) rejected in one specific case does not invalidate the entire idea.

It's a very well thought out, and clearly well informed judgement. For a judge to dive this deeply into the issue gives me some hope for some of the other idiocy of the legal framework around software.
I don't think I could vote for Trump, but going for Jill Stein (or maybe even the Libertarian candidate), or writing in Sanders, is a distinct possibility.

If Trump wins, you'll have a drastic and immediate push by both sides of the isle to reduce the power of the executive before he takes office. Hey, that could be good. If Clinton wins... expect a whole lot of nothing to change.

It's a completely independent, publicly traded entity, of which Verizon wouldn't even be getting a controlling or even largest shareholder position in.
It's an odd thing, sort of like saying "we'll buy your web, oh and also a really good investment position - we'd like that too".
Yahoo Japan is valued at ~25B USD... and Yahoo Inc is valued at ~34B USD. That would suggest that without Yahoo's 31% stake of $8.5B in YJ, Yahoo Inc would be worth less than Yahoo Japan.
It could very well be that Verizon is buying their Yahoo Japan position and taking their web business as part of the deal, rather than the other way around.
I'm a frequent flier, and the extended search happens regardless of watchlists. I get it randomly about every 30 flights - 2-3 times a year. It's a bit annoying as it takes me out of the priority line, but the extra search is not really that extensive - a palm check for chemicals and a few extra questions.
Granted, frequent fliers know how to expedite these things: look bored, tired, and very slightly annoyed. Have everything exactly in order. Fly carry-on. Have your FF badge visible and be part of TSA-pre or whatever you can find.

I have an LG-55EA8800, a flat 55" OLED tv. Had it about 18 months now. No problems with burn-in at all.
