When was service ever defined as retaining electronic copies on the user's devices?

Correct me if i'm wrong, but aren't the files physically stored on local storage on a kindle? If the deletion happened remotely, then that really doesn't fall into play.

I'm sure you would like it if Microsoft decided that it's licenses to xp were invalid because end of life and just decided to remotely remove it. I'm pretty sure they have something in their eula which states they can do whatever they want with it no matter the media that it's on. And i'm pretty sure that they would have their pants sued. This should be applied to amazon and they should learn the hard way that destruction of property that they themselves sold is highly illegal.

  14. Re:Advanced Alien Behavior on Fewer Than 10 ET Civilizations In Our Galaxy? · · Score: 1

I never understood why we believe aliens would use radio signals to communicate. They take millions of years to reach another solar system let alone another galaxy. It's like comparing colonizing the earth with only the use of your 2 legs. Then compare it to just adding boats, now add planes to the mix. Each is a huge leap forward.

It would only make sense if they used FTL communication and FTL travel. Thus making this silly paradox meaningless.

I would think you might want to try and figure out gravitational communication first as that should be instantaneous communication.

sending a colony/ark ship is nice, only if you know where your sending it to. It would be silly/foolish to not plan where to go. Space is the place to explore and to start getting ourselves into. Unlimited resources, more room, more possibilities. Once the economic hurdles of getting into space get overcome, everything else is not a problem.

  19. Re:Contact your state senator!!! on Pandora Wants Radio Stations To Pay For Music, Too · · Score: 1

You know, the only people that suffer are the little kiddies who can't afford an ipod, who don't have access to the internet and are spoon fed the crap the clear channel broadcasts. The state of terrestrial radio is bad, really bad with hardly a choice of what to listen to and nothing but crap music (top 100, top 40, easy listening being the biggest categories). The only choice for any sort of radio is internet radio with a good selection of just about everything. Of course they're trying to kill that off so, good luck with that, right? Ohh, there's college radio which has a good selection, but i bet if this bill passes a lot of colleges will be dumping their licenses due to cost issues.

And thus was created the most boring game to play. Having to wait real time in order to gain skills is not very fun, however it makes for a great business model.

I mean the concept of skill is that a better skilled player will win. Applied to eve it means whomever created their character earlier has a greater chance to win unless completely outnumbered. So it's not a whole lot of skill involved. The specialization is great until you realize that a core set of skills are needed to fly ships, which in a space ship combat game should be everyone's main focus. The life of a eve scientist who flies from station to station in shuttles queuing up research projects is pretty lame. So is waiting a month to level up a skill to get 5% more damage.
