  1. Re:Encryption on SETI Is 50 Years Old; No Sign of ET · · Score: 1

Or better yet, did anyone stop and think that advanced civs don't use radio waves to communicate real time data? Maybe, just maybe, they found a way to implement quantum entanglement or some other form of exotic (to us) communication which allows distance to not be a factor?

because if there was a alien race which is so technologically more advanced than us that still uses radio waves as a form of communication, i'm not too sure i'd want to meet them. They'd probably be as backwater and un-advanced as us. Which would mean a tenancy to perform genocide as a form of preservation.

  2. Re:Why is the wii controller even mentioned? on Accidental Wii Suicide · · Score: 1

Except for the fact that SHE didn't buy the wii attachment. SHE was left unattended with a real loaded semi automatic pistol on the coffee table. SHE was a victim of negligence. Something the parents should be responsible for. Now i wonder if she was even playing the wii, i don't know many 3 year olds who play the wii, play gun games for that matter (their hand eye coordination has a lot to be desired), and specifically i don't know many kids when they're playing games point the guns at themselves and shoot (you point at the tv and shoot), let alone can't tell the difference in both texture and temperature and weight from a real gun compared to a plastic gun.

Sorry, my bullshit detector goes way off the scale here. They left a loaded gun near a 3 year old, 3 year old probably grabbed it and it went off. The wii, video games, tv, everything else has nothing to do with it. The parents should be charged with negligent homicide.

At relativistic speeds and with enough distance between the ship and the emitted antimatter, i doubt the crew would get a lethal dose of gamma radiation, besides the fact that you'd still need a ship with enough plating in the front where radiation is a non issue, from the matter annihilation as well as cosmic radiation.

I really doubt you'd want to be in a ship going anywhere close to light speed without having some sturdy armor between you and the rest of the universe. That and distance at traveling at near light speeds, you can emit the anti matter in the order of miles ahead of you or more. Hell, you can probably collect the energy from the matter/anti-matter collisions and use it to power the ship.
