I know that at my old job, UPS told me that they used to get pissed if you put fragile on the box, so they would make sure they threw it around...
on the other hand, I'm sure bubble tape isn't exactly "a great idea"...the foam that it came in is probably much better...i'm sure dell and compaq and gateway won't ship they're equiptment with bubble wrap..
bubble wraps good for memory and stuff..but...
my thoughts EXACT. Back In The Day, I was asked to beta test a cable modem around 7 or 8 years ago. I accepted because 14.4 was getting reeeeeeeal slow. Before I had the cable, when I went out and bought a 28.8, I couldn't even connect at 14.4...the modem was so damn unstable with my line conditions, that I was better off with the 14.4 not having to worry about changing speeds. I've had a cable modem ever since. I could never go back to a dialup line..disconnects..and its just plain sloooooow
I enjoy the mindless joke laughter me and my yuppie friends make at yuppie parties all the time. I love to fake laugh, too.
Your point of view is fine, its just way off the mark, to the point where your like one of those fools at my yuppie parties who jumps in the middle of a conversation about beer and you bring up cats. You might as well have started a new post, Ask Slashdot: what music do you listen to when you run windows xp?
reboot it, if that doesn't work, call your local admin to remove the robotic arm out of the patience ass

you can generally guess when a game will be good, and won't be. If you stick with the certain brands, you'll in the clear. Like EA, Bullfrog, Eidios, etc. Ususally it seems like everyone who's like "Playstation is so much better" pick up PC games out of the bargin bin or some no name pic like wheel of fortune, or deer hunter..and they insist that the pc games suck. Its ashame, because my PC graphics will always be better than a Playstation, plus, I have the options to save stuff to DISK. Although PS2 can save to tiny memory cards, I can still import custom things from my PC, which finally game manufactures have been doing lately...
i agree.. maybe i'm not understanding the device correctly, but, why would you want to stream music to your stereo system constantly..
won't that kill your network in your home? I would think it'd chug up a ton of bandwidth on my little 8 port hub..
and whats the audio-out specs on the device? i believe my soundcard is 20hz-20khz...that rio's specs is like 34hz-20khz or something like that..
I dunno, i think I'd rather run rca jacks from my pc to stereo..being that i'd have to leave my computer on in order to stream to another $300 box and run same type of wires there. i could see running cat-5, if it was going to check cddb for my cd player or something.
my onscreen pioneer cdplayer is missing cdtext, along with cddb via cat-5:)
i'm not sure why you got modded down, but..in any event..
I agree with the fact that computer users of the 90's+ (basicallly, "non-geeks") will never install a os in there life.
I've been using computers for 15 years now, and started by installing slackware UMS-DOS installs when I was about 13, but, thats because I had interest. Needless to say, I still have issues when installing linux on my system, but I get them down, and then able to get it running after some time..
A friend of mine mentioned this, and it seems to be true. I was commenting how much awesome GAIM was than any of AOL's AIM clients (Windoze version specifically, because the linux client is awful) and he said, its funny that GAIM will be the best program ever, but it'll take YEARS before they come out with a good office package. and I guess thats the problem with geeks writing code w/ other geeks...they write code for the apps THEY want to see, not whats totally needed...I think that holds true..
yeah, I agree 100% with you.
I like to make mp3 cd's for my discman, and shortly my car. I cram like 5 or 6 albums on one disc in 192kbps and don't have to carry...5 or 6 albums...
in another event...we still haven't found out "what disc" has the protection, if any..
I would think that if a cd "had protection" it wouldn't be able to play in my cd player, like how an mp3 cd won't.
bah..I hear ya...I do however know, that its pretty hard to rip the last song of a disc that is one of those annoying "cd-extra" where the data is at the end of thedisc...but other than that, I'd like to see one myself, too..

When A Cable Dies

Funny though, me and my friends were fishing on his boat, and we lost the bait trap...so, my friend asked me to lift the anchor up so we could chase the bait trap..well, they asked me to pull it up..being the weakling I am, I couldn't do it.. I yelled over, and my two other friends couldn't get it up (sounds like a personal problem)..in any event, about 20 minutes later we got the thing up, along with a huuuuuuuge cable (i'd say like -40 gauge)...don't know what it was for, but...we were in pretty shallow water....
who cares really? I mean, Lets say Microsoft bought out Netscape or something, and they use Netscape instead of IE, does it really matter? A user can pick whatever browser, instant messenging software, etc they want. If Netscape and AOL want there software to be popular, guess what-- spend some f'n money and advertise it.
If MS makes it that inconvient for you, well, don't use the shitty OS..
If you go to buy a car, and the tires on the car aren't something you like, would you go and get another car that has the tires you DO like? or buy the car and get the tires you like on 'em. Same thing here...
well, yes, sorta.
I have like 3 hundred something in my machine now, I don't even remember, but, when building a machine (like I do), always check how much ram the board can max out at... I've seen boards where max is 512mb, or even less... My Tyan Tiger 100 happens to be a gig max (flexing muscles) Needless to say, you never know when your gonna max out..especially when you boot up and its already using 96mb of ram..
I hate those ads. Get 'em all the time...I share a similar experience where people put bumper stickers on their car, saying "VOTE THISPOLITCALIDIOT," I don't vote for them.
if you lock your wheels, (turn them all the way to one side) so that the wheel can't move, tow trucks can't move it...
