I've been doing research on this very issue. Here's an excellent site that has performance statistics and ratings.
The Thecus 4100+ is rumored to be extremely slow.
The Infrant/Netgear ReadyNas NV+ is the one I'm looking at. It has an iTunes server, a DLNA server, and a USB connection for TimeMachine.
The Qnap TS-401T seems to have a USB port, but it is not for computer access to the filesystem - it's for backing up files to external drives!
My 'dream NAS' would support 3.0 Gb/s SATA transfers, support RAID 0-6 + JBOD, use a Linux-mountable filesystem on the drives (ReadyNas uses EXT3), have iTunes and DLNA media streaming support, firewire 800/USB 2.0 connections for the currently-direct-connect-only OS X Time Machine, support and use 1 GB transfer speeds.
The Thecus 5200B is sinfully fast, but doesn't have the iTunes or DLNA servers (it is a SMB box, not a home server, after all).
A triac would be perfect for switching the AC on to the main power supply, which could then take over biasing the triac. I've always wanted to couple a piezoelectric crystal to a triac gate to provide true zero power off. Bend/push the piezo, the triac fires, off you go!
Of course if you wanted to risk electrocution, you could have two contacts - one from the gate of the triac, the other to a current-limited connection to the hot wire. Using your finger to complete the circuit fires the triac. I guess you've really got to want to watch TV to take the jolt from turning it on!
Excellent discussion. Why not eliminate the whole color perception issue by using monochromatic custom M&Ms with different simple symbols on them, say, squares, triangles, and circles?
Or hearts, moons, stars, and clovers, if you're into old school Lucky Charms. 8-)
Vacuum capacitors are used very often in high voltage situations like in high power transmitters. This site http://www.omnicor.com/vacuum-capacitors.htm gives the following explanation for using vacuum vs air:
High dielectric strength, together with freedom from dust contamination and humidity enable higher voltage capabilities than with air dielectric, giving a far more compact component.
In his talk, he mentioned that the angular momentum of the final vortex was the result of the Earth's magnetic field, and that injecting a 'weak' field would increase efficiency, up to a point.
Later in the talk, he mentioned that x-ray cooling could be limited by raising the magnetic field to around 6 gigagauss. Isn't that a contradiction?
According to SpaceWeather.com, not only did the comet brighten unexpectedly, it "... has no tail, [and] a remarkable golden color...". Unless the geometry of the sun-earth-comet trio is such that the tail is pointing directly away from the earth, you'd think there'd be a massive tail given the million-fold increase in brightness.
What happened to the theory that a slick of an environmentally-safe oil strategically placed in the path of a hurricane would decouple the hurricane from its energy source (the warm ocean)? That sounds less like lawsuit-bait that trying to turn one.
Princeton Professor of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Fred Dryer has a lofty goal: end the nation's reliance on oil for jet travel.
No crime at Princeton will go unsolved with Hunter on the job!
Wasn't he the guy that starred in the mostly-lame 80's cop show Hunter? Nice change of careers from washed-up actor to Mech & Aero Engineer at Princeton.
I have a Motorola Razr that I bought from Verizon that they functionally-crippled. It was marketed as a "Motorola Razr", and in fact their website pointed you to Motorola's site that described the full feature phone. No where did they mention that their version was crippled, or did they market it under a different name like "Razr-lite".
I consider that fraud. I was led to believe that I was getting a Motorola Razr, not a pared-down version. If I went to a car dealer and bought model "X" car, I'd be a little upset to find out that dealer "Y" sells the cars after ripping the motor out, without telling the customer, or letting them look under the hood.
My wife tends to enjoy the Speyside single malts with a sherry cask finish. She particularly likes The Macallan 25 year old single cask/cask strength. Very nice. We have a friend that loves the heavy peat/iodine taste of the western isles, but that's a bit too medicinal for my wife. To each his/her own, I guess!
Then don't buy the album Golden Throats - the track list reads like titles of new horror films.
* Proud Mary - Leonard Nimoy
* It Ain't Me Babe - Sebastian Cabot
* Blowin' In The Wind - Eddie Albert * Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds - William Shatner
* A Whiter Shade Of Pale - Noel Harrison
* I Can See For Miles - Frankie Randall
* Try A Little Tenderness - Jack Webb
* Twist And Shout - Mae West
* House Of The Rising Sun - Andy Griffith * Mr. Tambourine Man - William Shatner
* You Are The Sunshine Of My Life - Jim Nabors
* White Room - Joel Grey
* Like A Rolling Stone - Sebastian Cabot * If I Had A Hammer - Leonard Nimoy
Rumor has it that Nimoy actually thought he had a future as a folk singer, and was prepared to put out albums and tour. Frightening indeed.
Your (and my!) Mini key is made by Valeo - here are the FCC OET pages on it.
It consists of an RF transmitter to open the doors, etc, and a passive RFID chip that had to be read by the steering column before the car will start. If you look at the other products on the FCC site by Valeo, you'll see various steering column readers and door lock receivers. The transmitter is actually fairly complex - it uses rolling codes to help prevent theft by replaying/predicting codes.
it probably could clear the gap. If we assume that the bus' suspension can handle a 6 inch drop, then the bus must cover the 50 feet in 0.177 sec. That equates to 193 MPH. If you allow for a 1 foot drop, then the speed requirement drops to 136 MPH.
At 70 MPH, the bus' suspension would have to accomodate a drop of 3.8 feet - hardly plausible.

Opinions?
4) Are there genetic conditions that promote obesity?
5) Are there viruses that promote obesity?
6) Are there different types of intestinal flora that promote obesity in humans?
7) Are there other causes that I can't think of that cause the human body to think it's in starvation mode and preferentially store every calorie it can as fat? Yes, I bet there are.
But it's hard to keep lit, and the smoke really irritates my lungs.

Here. It looks like there are 17 colors to choose from. Probably a bit pricey, though.

Oh God, you just revived an old memory. Jem and the Holograms! Truly Outrageous!

The vacuuming 'bots are cool, but there's so much more they'll need to do before they're really integrated, Jetson's-style.

Quit arguing and look here
Freudian slip, dude? Perhaps you meant 'Big Mac'.

Her peroxide-blonde head will look like the friggin' Luxor in Vegas.
Har har. Naturally I meant that the JUDGE should slap CAPITOL, not the other way around. Slapping a judge would bring about all sorts of bad juju.
... the judge declare Capitol in contempt of court for not complying with his order, and get seriously slapped upside the head.
