I used to work at the faculty of physics at my university on some experiments that had to be cooled using LHe. If I remember correctly all the cooling had to be pressureless because LHe has a good specific but a bad molar heat capacity.
That means, that the LHe will happily absorb all the heat energy it has to , but it will turn into a gas, suddenly, at once and violently.
I remember one event in the lab when someone tried to measure the level of LHe with a metal rod. The LHe started evaporating violently and a safety-valve blasted.

Well, no, not if you stay on the same level in the graqvitational field.
What you mean is: It takes less energy to accellerate a smaller mass. Since in non-hybrid cars decelleration / breaking means converting this energy into heat that means "bigger mass" = "more energy lost into by breaking"

and that's a different situation for the users than switching from analog to digital TV receivers because...?
It implausible to me. Within 15 or so years of working in or with System Administration I only met people who I trust, who look away when somebody enters a password, who actively forget any private information they get to know during their work and who never gossiped about anything they may know from "tainted" sources.
However, you get what you pay for - all of those admins have been and are in more than the dimension of salaries very valued employees.
In Germany every motorized vehicle driven on public roads needs to pass a regular safety test*1 , has to have vehicle insurance and you'll need the right driving license.
Everything else is/very/ illegal.
The definition of "public roads" includes publicly assessible parking lots.
That's a set of laws that really makes me feel safer.
[ ] you do understand that the old iPhone is using a completely different network than the new one and thus the local GSM reception might differ from the local UMTS reception at a given point in space
[X] you think your TV has a broken receiver because it has bad reception compared to your shortwave radio in the same spot.
By the way: my iPhone is doing fine (compared to the e61i or the Blackberry or the Win Smartphone I had before) and I don't understand why I should stop liking this device just because someone on the internet writes that his / her iPhone does not work as expected. It's far from being perfect but hurts me way less than all the smartphones I tried before.
> I'm Austrian > I can confirm that Germans have no humour I use to work in Austria a lot and have some close Austrian friends. While I obviously disagree on us Germans being humouristically challenged, I have to admit that the cultural differences between Austrians and Germans are bigger than between Australians and Germans, ESPECIALLY in the area of humour and sarcasm.
It is still extremely difficult to understand for me if an Austrian is serious or joking, which makes the first months of a business relationship a very dry experience.
However, I always felt very welcome in your country.
It not so much insulting - it feels like having a close relative who's not very good looking but has a beautiful voice.
German humour often works requires understanding of the German culture and the many degrees of freedom the German language has, which often transport fine differences in meaning.
I find it quite difficult to grok japanese humour and I think German humour may be as difficult for non Germans.
And I still remember my - usually very distinguished - physics teacher having difficulties breathing because he laughed so hard when we watched "Pappa ante portas" in the class before christmas.
I switched from an E61i to the iPhone and the iPhone is so ridiculously much better in everything it can do from a usability perspective that I really don't care about anything it may be lacking compared to the E61i.
Even Exchange Sync is close to perfect, a very nice product to use.
While this is the permanent disqualification of reuters for reporting any news on science it makes me wonder where else - on a topic I'm not competent at and would not recognize easily - Reuters is reporting nonsense.
So this is not only the disqualification on science but an absolute one.
Blah, could you please keep your stupid US-American paranoia out of one of the most promising concepts for short- and medium range transportation in my country?
While I'm not sure about the expected behaviour with an application locked to a specific screen I agree that there is no reason to switch to a different screen and / or focus after the user has switched to a different screen / window.
As you say: That's just not right and leads to big pain.

I don't think that having a way to wirelessly communicate in the white spaces would benefit nobody. I think that it would be as disruptive as WLAN.

Your 10 year old photocopier can reproduce, so you don't have to.

Same here, and I'm absolutely positive that none of my colleagues or any of the people I taught "would".
However, I'm in Europe, too, and have 6 months of notice...

Chunky! Bacon!

I still feel insulted a little when I read things like these. While I agree on German humour being kind of special I think that it has some very funny ways. For example we have a sense for the humor of very elaborate and absurd situations - for absolutely no reason.
Have a look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vicco_von_Buelow or some of his work at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=70Dd5dosUhk or http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rypULAp99ao or http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yVCk8Inkav4
The English have a humour that quite sometimes is similar to aspects of our humour, neither nation would admit it, of course.

It's actually (part of) a German company founded by Werner von Siemens, inventor of the alphabetical telegraph, founded in the 19th century.
