For example, Ford almost certainly has an ongoing business relationship with MS, for their office PCs, maybe they use Outlook, etc. - they probably don't want to sour that by saying in public that their car-OS is crap.
In all seriousness, what I want the iPhone to do that Android does is be able to control the hardware from a quick access screen - ie, turn the wifi or bluetooth on and off quickly without having to use the main settings app.
Bugtraq and Full Disclosure mailing lists are a good read. Almost all new vulnerabilities are posted to one of these lists. In addition, many Linux distros post their security notices here (Ubuntu used to, but now only posts on their own list). The CERT list mentioned by previous commenters is also good, even if it can be a little slow at getting the news out. Microsoft, Apple and others report their security notices through this list.
All major web browsers have supported JSON.parse() for a long time; including IE8. Anyone who is still using eval() for parsing JSON should come out of their cave and get with the times. I doubt you would find any serious web developer who still uses eval(), except in "extreme" circumstances. There's just no real need for it in most applications.
I can only hope the new "Mobile Experience" actually works this time. Viewing slashdot on an iPhone is like playing Russian roulette. Only about 1 in 10 times will the site actually show up in the "Mobile" layout. Every other time, I'm stuck viewing slashdot in the "desktop" interface/layout on this tiny screen. Seriously, how hard can it be to detect a mobile browser and use the mobile-specific interface every time?
25 years later, your first thought about Australia is still Crocodile Dundee? Kinda offensive.

Next time there's a story on an American patent owner, should my first post say "What's next? Uncle Sam going to whistle Yankee Doodle Dandy while eating a Big Mac?"
Dad? I dug another hole!
Mum said it was funny how one day you're not famous, and the next day you are. Famous. And then you're not again.
And can I just say how disenchanted I am with the legal system.
There's still a problem with Llano VGA in Linux 3.3. These bugreports seem to indicate that the problem lies with the DP to VGA bridge not working. As a workaround, you can use a HDMI/DVI connection instead of VGA.
Someone should mention this to James May. After his success with the Lego house and the Meccano bridge, I think a Meccano car would be simply awesome. Doing a piston engine might be a bit of a challenge, but you could probably get away with Pedal Power.

Possibly not
Legos? What's a Legos?
It's called K&R?

Yo dawg! I heard you like hurd, so I put a hurd in your herd so you can herd while you hurd!
evasi0n jailbreak + SBSettings would fit that bill. Even works from the lockscreen.
Current PPAU policy is for 15 years, so I'm guessing RMS would be OK with it?
FYI, there's a method behind the madness of this "silly" name...

Turducken recipe. With a song like this, who wouldn't want to cook one!
You can sync an iPod with third-party media players like Winamp, etc.
I think this comic is relevant here.
Your ideas are intriguing to me and I would like to subscribe to your newsletter.
Slashdot confirms it. Netcraft is dying...
Oracle are made up of vampire squids
That would explain Larry Ellison
Don't attribute to a lazy brain that which is adequately explained by a fat finger.

That would require two notes to be wrong in order to end up with another major chord.
+1
Nothing gets the sense of adventure flying like reading Tintin and Asterix.
Have been using Ubuntu since Ubuntu 6.4.
That must have been the Cranky Caribou edition. So cranky that they didn't bother telling anyone about it...

Everyone's favourite timewaster, Diablo II, runs very nicely under Wine.
