i have a suggestion, instead of conceptualizing god as a sapient, thinking mind, try imagining HIM as order, as in order vs. chaos

this assumes that all the direct quotes. "...and the lord said..." are the work of human interpretation

now, re-read genesis and substitute "order" for the words god, lord and whatnot

i trust in logic and rational thought, not faith.

it seems to me that the problem here runs deeper than the latest "what rights did we lose this week" issue

the problem is that within the american system the immoral, greedy bottomfeeder naturally rises to the apex of the power structure

be it politics, religion or business, the system encourages those who are willing to discard their own personal beliefs for money

that doesnt sound appaling at all, i wish that the canadian government had the foresight to set up something like that here

that solution seems better than 20 minutes of "content" and 10 minutes of ads that we have now

the Canadian Broadcast Corp. (our version of BBC) wouldnt be terminally on the edge of closing their doors due to funding issues

plus, it's opt-out, dont own a tv? dont pay.
there is no opt-out when it comes to advertising on virtually any other medium

I read on one of the tech sites, (ars, or tom's or whatever) a paragraph that contained a very interesting idea. Transmeta's groundbreaking chip technology has demonstrated to all the value of a software abstraction layer. Consider the entire x86 architecture; Would it be well served by inserting just such a layer into common INTEL and AMD desktop and server platforms? Perhaps this would make a half decent Ask Slashdot?
