    even if you have a legit copy of Vista then if the WGA auth server goes wheels up and it trys to check in (which it does i think weekly) then you will get flagged plus what happens if somebody decides to hack the auth server and invoke the kill switch??
    (or a virus trips the flag while its doing whatever it is doing)

    easy way to fix this

    Require with force of law that each payout be tendered as CASH (or cash equivalent instrument) with the option of getting an actual
    mailed card or an E-Card.

    A lot of devices would work (and do work well) if the OEM would just go ahead and not be "cute" with the hardware
    also changing the chipset used on a device and not changing the model number is worse than cute.

    example anything that presents as a "Mass Storage Device" will work with Linux (with Automount even)
    but Wifi cards tend to be a nightmare because
    1 Firmware bounces all over the map
    2 OEMs changing the chipsets without changing the model number (oh its a Version 4.5.6.nx3?? yeah they changed the chips)

    what would help is if OEMs would put a rom chip on the device with a correct firmware

    actually they started as a money protection force and only got the presidential gig later.
    Any time you start dealing with a large about of iffy money then the Secret Service will show up
    (and i think its in the regs for law enforcement that if they see more than X dollars at stake they summon the SS)

    You basically have 2 choices as a "PC" OEM

    1 sell with Vista and chuck in a voucher for Win7
    2 sell with Linux

    any other combo and your system is considered "defective when sold"

    of course if i was designing this thing i would have it able to go "BOOM" on command/ when shot/after timeout
    but anytime you use ordinance and don't disable any enemy is bad. disabling innocent civilians in the process is even worse.

    so throw a bot into the room roll the dice
    everybody in the room a valid "target" = pop the bot and make entry during the confusion
    Mixed room = use Hot zone protocol (hey you know where almost everybody is)
    No valid targets = put weapons on safe and pick up your bot on the way through

    1 Linden Dollars are currently trading at L$251 to US$1

    2 it is often customary for large projects to be settled in real world currency (the better land sellers are setup with Paypal)

    Please note i am a SecondLife member not a lawyer or any kind of legal person

    First off the contract should has very clearly stated "the work being done has been created for use on the SecondLife Primary Grid and is not authorized for use on any other grid Beta Teen or other"

    Second if you want to "backup" a build like that then all you have to do as the creator is install a copy of say the Greenlife Emerald third part client and then select the item and pick "export" from the pie menu
    this will create a full copy of all prims and textures in the folder you select.

    Third part of the metadata of an object is
    1 the creator
    2 the current owner
    3 the group as set by the creator or current owner

    Fourth you do not receive a "copy" of the object just because you happened to go to that sim apart from the other
    thousand prims data that you have in cache (and somehow fishing the object out of the cache is non trivial)

    if anybody is confused hang around the NCI Kuula setup and find the Wolf

    Even if 99.999% of the energy was reflected then you would still damage the surface (causing the refection amount to drop) and then you still have the problem of SHINY != STEALTH.

    the best way to evade is to NOT BE WHERE THE BULLETS ARE
    and with this system even if it just "paints" the target i would bet is has a nice range to it

    so either they need this money to finally upgrade their networks or they have plenty of money so they should already be upgrading their networks.

    What i would like to see is a commitment that a Minimum bandwidth be available per account. Having "Up To 70megabits per second" speed is all well and good but what good does that do you if 99.99999 percent of the time
    you are stuck at 0.7 megabits per second because they have 400% of the pipe allocated.

    Also it should be forbidden for a carrier to cut off a connection because the user is running %protocol
    (unless of course actual "court of law" evidence exists that something illegal is happening)

    Not entirely true in the context of SecondLife type setups

    You can in Photoshop/Gimp/whatever create your textures (and in some cases in some programs like Blender or AC3D create the models)
    and then upload to the SL server and build an in game item.

    You most definitely "own" those items created and the assests used to build them (and could file DMCA takedowns over them).

    lets see you would have needed a 279 series phone cable (assumes you want a plug on this end)
    and then over in 274 series you would need a 1/8 mono plug.

    or you could also use a 42 series mono cable and then a 279 series rj-ll keystone (this may be a bit more secure)

    and i think the electrical tape is 64 series (should be on a hook next to the parts bins)

    note ive not been working stock at RadioShack for over 2 years so why do i remember this??
