Assuming the motorcycle oil would have worked fine from a technical standpoint but the only reason it didn't work in the BMW is because there is a sensor that says "this is motorcycle oil - don't start the engine" then yes, it would be a "bad thing".
Netflix has MANY more distribution centers around the country then either Netflix or Blockbuster. The only time I don't get a 48 turn around (from when I drop my last movies in the mailbox to when I get my new movies) is when I've dropped them in the mail on Monday (they seem to be overloaded on Monday and get a LOT more back then so its a day slower).
Lackluster video has only a handful of distribution centers. The same is true of Walmart and others.
Um... I really have to wonder at the QA testing that goes on at Trend Micro. It seems that there have been some pretty big screwups there that made it into their enterprise software.
At some point, when you are going to differentiate SO MUCH from the original story - that's when you should just create your own fucking story with a new title.
Actually the vast majority of the better items in the game are like this. They are 'soulbound' on pickup, meaning they cannot be traded.
The most expensive thing people need to buy in the game are their mount (100g at level 40) and their epic mount (1000g at level 60 which is a LOT of money).
Yes, there are things people buy at auction, but rarely is there anything of real power in the game their. You have to raid for the real powerful stuff and cannot trade for it.
I don't think they are automatically taken out of service. I think if an account goes unused for several months, and then someone requests that account name, it can then be reassigned.
The chairman of the FCC was appointed by Bill Clinton
Michael Powell (son of Colin Powell) was appointed as chairman by GW Bush in his first term, though he was made a commisioner of the FCC (but not chariman) by Clinton.
Real Democracy in MMORPGs? That would be horrible! I'll give you an example using World of Warcraft:
Two thirds or so of the population of WoW plays on the Alliance side (as opposed to the Horde). A real 'democracy' towards class/realm balance would cause the alliance side to be (even further) imbalanced (better quests/items/classes/content/etc).
I am definately in favor of a dictatorship for MMORPGs (though I love GPL software in general).
Actually it is marked that way on slashdot, but not overtly. The 'Foot' icon that is shown (below the FF2 icon for rpg) is for humor. Its a Monty Python thing.
Only thing on the horizon (that I'm aware of) for Single Player PC RPGs is Knights of the Old Republic II. It is scheduled for release in mid-Feburary at last check.
Of course since RPGDot has ALREADY been SLASHdotted, I'm not sure what else is up there.
Is there anything else to look forward to on the single player PC side?
I use Firefox exclusively for web browsing, but if I need to use an HTML editor for simple stuff every once in a while, I still have the Mozilla suite installed for Composer.
Thats about it though. I haven't used the full suite for web browsing (I use Evolution for e-mail) for almost two years now.
How exactly will they do this? There have been many different worlds in Might and Magic. Most of them (though the games themselves were great) were rather unremarkable.
Characters? Outside of Corak & Sheltem (from M&M 1-V), and the Ironfists (Roland, his wife Catherine, and his evil brother Archibald), there really haven't been much of note.
The Might and Magic games have been great, but have been so almost because of their genericness that allows the gameplay to be what is remembered.
Now that being said, I would love to see another Might and Magic (not just Heroes) game developed by a competant company. The first seven games were great, but the eighth and ninth were lacking to say the least.
Yes excellent series. Best out there by far in my opinion. Keep it away from the kids though, and be patient. The last book was released in 2000, and we're still waiting for the next one (it was due out in 2002).
Since a good deal of administrators/trustees at Marist College are ex/current IBMers, IBM is also known as "I Bought Marist", and Marist is sometimes nicknamed IBM.edu.
IBM's Poughkeepsie site is just down the road from the Marist campus.
Yep, the above poster was one of the people who get me to look into python. I love it now. I hate when I have to go back and look at perl code that I or others have written now.
Remember, this is just the Op-Ed section. The vast majority of stories that slashdot links to at the Times are NOT Op-Ed.
Granted, this may be a trial run to see how this may work for the entire paper's content. We will have to wait and see for that.

Actually, most (11 out of the top 20) of the top (domestic) grossing movies of all time have been PG-13 or higher.

See, that is one of the problems. I got a Computer Engineering degree at a Public University in NY. We did too much 'breadboard' and not enough 'CAD'.
I would have been MUCH better off if we spent time with software like Cadence.

In case anyone forgot this one:
Trend Micro Quarantines Letter P
Well they said DVD, not DVD-ROM. Perhaps these will be playable on normal DVD players?
The two DVD figure mentioned may be because there is menu overhead, and the data would be displayed as image files rather then text.
Just a thought.

Kismet is at www.kismetwireless.net not .org as the poster linked to.
Yeah, after all he's doing a WHOLE lot in Darfur, Sudan.

In other news, EA is considering buying out Take Two Interactive to gain the MLB license back and "drive competition"

That was the original plan, but they have since said that ALL of SI would be free, not just the engine.
Guess they figured it is too much trouble to bother seperating it.
