When I read that the machines had been dismantled, I assumed there was some sort of political theme, which made me want to write a Pokemon meets Michael Moore game.

No way . . . my last car I had was an Exploder, and then I got a BMW. The BMW is MUCH better, and actually similarly priced (Explorer Limited to a 3-series).
The only time this could have ever been a problem for me was the summer FF7 came out. My girlfriend got a 9 to 5 job for the summer, and I had a free ride from my parents (I was in school at the time). So, I'd play by day, and hang out with her at night.
We did get in a fight one night, though, when I called her Aeris . . . .
This is a great idea! You could even have a part of the credits that says a website you could go to to see who helped with the rendering, or even put a special thanks section on the DVD that says who rendered what.
When I turn on Windows file sharing, it works great, but will not see mounted volumes (i.e. my firewire hard drive). All you can see is a blank file (which would be the symbolic link in OS X). PLEASE fix this!
Just a thought...what if Google linked to another page that simply did a redirect to the illegal material. They're not technically linking to it. But, I'm not sure how broad the DMCA wording is.
This is a nice idea, but it won't replace all the lost jobs. No one needs a project manager for each developer. I imagine most project managers are over 4 - 12 developers. Where are those other 3 - 11 people going to find work?
There's an album by Self called Gizmodgery. It was made entirely with Fisher Price toys. It's pretty hard to find, but definitely worth the effort. Here are a couple of reviews:
1. A network-based sales system, comprising: at least one buyer computer for operation by a user desiring to buy a product; at least one merchant computer; and at least one payment computer;
How could they possibly know that Amazon has exactly this setup?
2. A network-based sales system in accordance with claim 1, wherein said payment message and said access message each comprises a universal resource locator.
Amazon's one-click patent was filed September 12, 1997; whereas this was filed October 24, 1994. How could the one-click patent be filed if it was alreay there?...and don't say "you must be new here":)
4. A network-based sales system in accordance with claim 1, wherein said access message comprises a buyer network address. 5. A network-based sales system in accordance with claim 4, wherein: said product can be transmitted from one computer to another; and said merchant computer causes said product to be sent to said user by transmitting said product to said buyer network address only.
What?!? Said product is transferred to the buyer network address only? I never shipped any of those books I bought from Amazon to an IP address!
15. A network-based sales system in accordance with claim 14, wherein: said payment message comprises a payment amount; and said payment computer is programmed to ensure that said user account has sufficient funds or credit to cover said payment amount.
Surely this already existed. I doubt every time someone swiped an American Express card before October 24, 1994, a human being was called to look up an account balance in a paper ledger.
39. A method of operating a shopping cart computer in a computer network comprising at least one buyer computer for operation by a user desiring to buy products, at least one shopping cart computer, and a shopping cart database connected to said shopping cart computer
Funny, I figured you just needed a program to do a shopping cart, instead of a whole computer! Here we have a buyer computer, merchant computer, payment computer, and a shopping cart computer. Wow.
I'd look at the other patents, but I'm getting dizzy....
I know you were joking, but you can help by getting the Google toolbar (if you use IE) and click the smiley face or frowning face to cast a vote on a site. I don't know what effect that has, though.
ooh, you're probably right. i could have easily misheard it. i have the fugazi instrument video, but it's on VHS, and i have no VCR, so i can't double check until i get the dvd of it
My stuff doesn't have DRM. But then again I'm no TMBG.
A, ay!, B, ay!, C, ay!, D, ay! . . .
When I read that the machines had been dismantled, I assumed there was some sort of political theme, which made me want to write a Pokemon meets Michael Moore game.

this would get an "obvious" tag.

It only works for 2002 models and up. I've been dreaming of this for a long time . . . cursed 1998 . . . .
...That's ironic, because Nirvana actually was by Microsoft 13 years ago, since they're both from the Seattle area.
...very slow bandwidth . . . .
We did get in a fight one night, though, when I called her Aeris . . . .
Yep, and Internet killed the video star.

Don't point the camera at games.slashdot.org . . . it might blow the PC up!
From what little I know about satellite Internet, you have to use a modem for upstream traffic, so that wouldn't be very helpful.

This sounds exactly like one-click to me.

This is the best I could come up with, so I guess not.
There are still a few in Memphis, which is where it all started.

Going into space . . .
no sound . . . (i.e. not having to listen to the commander-in-chief)
suddenly, being drafted doesn't seem so bad . . . .

I gotta give you props for knowing both Fugazi and Rites of Spring ... amazing bands. But the guy's name is Guy Picciotto. (pronounced pih-cho-toe)
Apple may only have 3% market share, but it's the top 3%.
