I'm new to Linux, so I might be wrong, but: If the minor version 2.x is odd, its a development/beta/alpha/whatever kernel. So 2.3 became 2.4, and no one should be using 2.3 on a production box. 2.5 is the current development branch, and when it is final it will be renumbered to 2.6. At that point no one should be running 2.5 on any box that matters.
Use the tools of each operating system: none of my family have full admin access to any of their machines. Only I do. It prevents them from screwing everything up. This includes WIndows and OSX
Ah! Then maybe you can answer my most burning question: how do I let them run games without being the administrator? Some games will not run for me unless the user is an administrator. Any ideas or info you can point me to?
I don't know what you consider a small shop, but Wolfenstein 3D was produced by a not-quite-as-large-as-they-are-now Id Software. The company Small Rockets has produced Star Monkey, which is a great arcade-style shooter. Heck, even Romero's Monkeystone doesn't seem bad off, and AFAIK it doesn't have tons of money behind it.
Red Hat, Mandrake, and the others are for getting work done, LFS is just plain cool
I love LFS, but I have to do disagree with that others are better suited for getting work done. I've had the same LFS system on my main box since october, and use it all the time for coding, web stuff, graphics, and games (with WineX). There isn't anything on the system I don't want, and its rock stable (52 days of uptime until I accidentally kicked the power switch on the UPS - doh!)
A distro like RedHat makes me paranoid. For security I'd rather use something I built up from scratch, so that I *know* it's secure. I could be totally wrong, but it works for me:)
Serious Sam, while it doesn't have a Helm's Deep situation or a realistic damage system, can definitely support lots and lots of enemies on the screen. Not 300 players though.
True, but more for Applications than just programs. Office, Photoshop, etc. all run fine as a normal user. But try running the Age of Mythology demo in Windows 2000 as a normal user; you'll get a message box stating you have to be an admin. An admin...to play a game!?
Continuity is one of the things I like about anime. A 26 episode show lets you get to know the characters. The problem with with continuity in American shows is that they don't usually stop the show until its ratings go down. If they could say ahead of time "Here's where it'll end" I think it would be more interesting to watch.
Actually, I had my GameCube die on me. The little assembly that moves the laser wouldn't return to earlier parts of the disk, so I gave it to more electronically inclined friend and he has it working. No security screw driver, so he drilled through the poor thing:)

You're thinking Super Mario World, the first Mario game for the Super Nintendo.
I will give this a try; many thanks :)

When I look at the screenshots, all I can think of is "And YOU, you're too FUCKING...BLUE!"
I always wanted a computer that won't turn on till 2 in the afternoon.
Check out beyond.us.linuxfromscratch.org, there's a great section for compiling XFree. (Use the CVS version of the guide).
If I understand your request correctly, yes it does. there's an fb driver, and it worked for me on my laptop.
What would you put to him, in that position?
Ooh, that would depend on what position it is. Something sharp and pointy I think.
Not to mention "the additional pins" - I thought it was pinless.
Heh, while working i was posting the same story and its pending, oh well another rejected story.
;)
Ahahaha, just wait a few hours, you still have a chance
Some (all?) European countries use a comma instead of a period, or so I'm told
I think having an all eunuchs campus is a bad idea. You'd be missing an essential part of the college experience.

Oh great, like we need a Furniture Industry Association of America.
I think the editors are trying to push the Tom's Hardware dupe off the front page :)
The field is now used by elves for shield surfing practice.
This means I can download pr0n while in flight! The closest I'll ever come to the Mile High Club...it *does* count, right? RIGHT?
*sob*
The minimum specs are an accelerator. They recommend a GeForce card...GeForces have been out for several years. Get a grip.
