    Well, you complain about Microsoft not fixing the patch in 3 attempts when you CANT EVEN TELL THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A PATCH AND A VULNERABILITY.

    MS06-042 is the Security Bulletin.
    KB918899 is the KB id w/ Patch.

    When he gets off the plane at DIA, his first question is which way to north.

    Um, if he actually could sense the magnetic field, he could tell which way was north and which was south. Thank God we dont have to tell magnets which say is 'North' to get them to work.

    It was written as one book, but was divided up due to wartime shortages on paper and to keep the printing price down on the first volume.

    Stop confusing individual books with volumes.

    While I do agree this is a bad thing and it should be opt-in rather then opt-out, you can remove all of these notes so other can't see them from your profile page.

    The thing is, for people who dislike this Service because of what it breaks are generally smart enough to work around it.

    Earthlink is probably assuming "Well if they dont like it they can work around it, but hey, everybody else likes it!"

    Do you hire yourself out as Tech Support? I mean being able to troubleshoot a connection from halfway across the country without even having to examine anything surely makes you some pretty good money.

    One of those things saves lives, and it sure isn't the DTV.

    Did you even read his post?

    You can add other features like incremental backups easily as well through the software as well, and it stores the files in the Maxtor OneTouch drive in a regular file system, so it can be accessed even on machines without the Dantz Retrospect software loaded.

    So what 'proprietary data wrapper' are you talking about now?

    I dont think it's RAID anything at all.

    The PetaBox TB120 says 120TB of space on 40 nodes. That's 3TB a node, and given 4 drives per node, that's 750GB drives.

    So basically the RAID selection is left up as an exercise to the reader, they're just marketing raw diskspace with a very low power consumption.

    If you're using Cox, use a speedtest on *their* network, otherwise it doesn't mean jack. They're only saying you'll get 15mbps from them to you, not from the entire Internet to you.

    Perhaps I have the economics wrong, but isn't it more cost effective to build your own cluster out of discarded PCs?

    No, what if you need to do a one-off job. Which is cheaper $.10/hour or paying somebody full time, buying supplies, paying for labor to put it together, paying for power to run it, and then letting it sit there gathering dust.

    There's no way you can get parts for the systems and labor for an admin to ~$72/month/server

    all of those bloggers making SoaP jokes? They were laughing at, not with the marketroids and hollywood in general. It was derision, nothing else.

    Maybe you were laughing *at* them, but I'm sure there were still alot laughing *with* them. The people laughing at them were people who took this movie to seriously. The people who laugh with them realized that they weren't trying to make a Ben Hur Epic Movie of Vast Proportions and instead were making something you could laugh to.
