Damn you!:) Wasn't it bad enough that Asimov linked the Foundation series and the Elijah Bailey series AND the Foundation prequel(s) together through that damn robot?
Next, you're going to tell me that Twiki was R. Giskard rebuilt...
Once one fan blade shatters, the shrapnel will shoot out and cause an adjacent fan to explode, until the entire case self destructs. I can't decide is this is a "noisiest. case. every." or a bomb waiting to go off.
About how long do you think your cell phone battery will last while it streams video over the air? Consider that not only are you constantly sending data over the air (as opposed to the bursty nature of voice) but you're also running the camera CCD too.
The real question is when we have good enough batteries or lightweight power generation devices, like a Ghostbusters proton pack!
Wait wait wait. Are you saying that because these stone columns are slightly bent, that therefore these columns have bent over time? Wouldn't a more likely reason be that they weren't made perfectly straight to begin with?
Regarding GPS performance, if I place my Garmin eTrex Summit on a window sill, I will eventually get a fix about half the time. The problem is that the GPS can only see a limited part of the sky from your sill. This won't work at all if you can't see enough sky from your window, as in the case in downtown buildings.
From inside a top floor apartment, my GPS can barely get a fix on satellite signals through the ceiling.
Technically, when you vote for either of the two major parties in a federal election, you're voting for that party to select electors who will in turn cast the electorial vote for that state. Hence, the right to vote, and the details of how voting is carried out, is a state right.

I know what you mean. They were just 30 minutes from touchdown when they started their de-orbital burn. How many times have we all glanced at our watches during a long plane trip and thought "Ah, 30 more minutes, and I'll be on the ground, on my way home!"
Home probably never felt further away for those astronauts when the shuttle started yawing out of control.
I loved the bit of animation that depicted the two invasion fleets that were at war "settling their differences" (the extra ships on one side blew up, thus making the two fleets equal in number) and coming to Earth, only to be eaten by a dog.
Err, the robot doesn't have to do any of that. If it communicates directly with the lower Segue portion, it can merely issue a "forward" command to the Segue controller, and that's that. No need for it to duplicate what a human rider would need to do.
I was class of '94, and I finished my degree early this year. I'm happy I finished it, and it was a real eye opener in terms of revisiting school work after several years of real life.
Off topic, but I used to go to that little model store on Mott St in Chinatown, NYC. I think it was called Wah Kue, or something. Are they really closed? Do you know anything more about what happened to the owner(s)?
No way! Do you have ANY idea how painful those #@$! Atari joysticks were to use for left handers?
I was glad that Suncom made dual button joysticks (one button in upper left, one in upper right, either button worked as "fire") for the C=64.

What if they kept track of every time the human reader finds an OCR-error. Couldn't you then build a profile of what words/phrases/letters the OCR software has the most problems with?
Then, couldn't you just selectively have the humans review the highest probably error prone sections of a book, instead of every single word of every single page?
God, I've always wanted to do that to people who constantly talk during movies.
I think we have a business plan here for "Remote Slap-Upside-Their-Head" (tm). If someone constantly performs ThoughtlesslyRudeAndAnnoying Act during a movie, you speed-dial and SMS a request for a "Remote Slap-Upside-Their_Head" (RSUTH), plus a destination vector. The nearest authorized employee of "RSUTH" will receive the message, and carry out the request. *SLAP*!

From the TNG episode "Relics":
Scotty: I may be a captain by rank, but... I've never wanted to be anything else but an engineer.
I get goosebumps everytime I see that episode. Thank you, Mr Doohan.

Leave it on your list, only, move it to the end of the list.

They replaced it with the undergraduate swimming requirement. You know, "Sink or Swim"...

AMD Athlon chips are pretty easy to get your hands on. They will solve your electricity to heat problems.

Sorry for the confusion. You just unzip it and run it. It doesn't use any DLLs, it doesn't write to your registry, it doesn't deactivate Ad-Aware...
