I loved Office up till version 2010, at which point we (the educational agency I work for) switched to Google Apps for everything. The last 2 years have made me appreciate the "always there exactly as I left it everywhere I access it" of the Google solution. The fact that its free for us (educational agency) didn't hurt one bit either. Re buying all those Microsoft licenses every few years got old.
I'm sure Office365 or whatever has a lot of neat stuff, but quite frankly its not free, probably full of bugs (since its new), probably still somehow bloated, and therefore still not worth it in comparison.
I'd never go back to office in a million years.
that's the dumbest thing i've ever heard, especially about programmers. unless your skillset is limited to some ancient unused language, i'd take a 50 year old programmer with real world understanding of architecture and code flow over half a dozen college squirt outs any day.
haven't bothered with Chrome since it came out, figuring google would fight tooth and nail to prohibit the blocking functionality, with it being their blood and all, guess they bit their tongue on the issue, for now.
haven't heard of adthwart before, but will install flashblock.
thanks.
i PERSONALLY found the game rather pretentious and boring. as an avid gamer, all i saw was an FPS with plasmids throw on top to make it appear as, well, not an FPS.
it would have made for a good movie, but there were too many holes in the story to even make me want to believe in it.
personally i still don't watch enough television to even have a use for one of these even if it was free. i'm assuming that on top of that there's some monthly charge for some 'service' correct?
but hey, to each their own.
...but what does it accomplish, now all the baddies will just go through the 'non major' points of entry.
please, the more things change the more they stay the same.
something cheap and easy we use is weblog expert, works off of IIS log files and has a lot of nice reports/features. we're an educational agency so the statistics aren't mission critical or anything, just more of a nice thing to have occasionally to see what's happening on the site.
...microsoft buys netherlands and sells it to the chinese, to teach future dissenters.
personally i don't care about microsoft one way or the other, but the eu is getting to be one major pain in the ass with all their baby whining about everything under the sky.
maybe microsoft should just stop selling in eu and let them go back to osx/linux, then we'll see how long these commissioners keep their jobs.
i have access to pretty much everything at my work place, email, files, im traffic, etc., but quite frankly, i don't have the time or the interest to give a rat's ass about what other people talk about. i'd rather spend my time coding up new solutions/problems for the agency. (i guess that makes a geek).
I would think that cleaning toilets at either place would be just as dirty. caca is caca my friend.
Google right now is what Microsoft used to be, Google will eventually get to be what Microsoft is now. mark my words, its inevitable. But since Google is in the 'good phase' of company growth, i'd pick them at the moment.
when sh*t happen you have to call people on it, otherwise it will continue to happen to others. but your choice, perhaps $30 isn't worth the hassle to you.
personally i'd bi*ch up a storm for even a dime. not that i'd care for the dime, but i'd care for the principal of the matter.
forget email, call them on the phone, they just now got an 800 number. they were very helpfull to me when i explained to them what happened. never made me feel like i was trying to pull a fast one of them or anything.
... during the 4 or so years i've been using paypal i've have nothing but 'good' to say about them. my account was compromised about a month ago. i caught the issue within a day, and they stopped all the charges on my checking account immediately (i had to call the bank as well just to make sure they didn't go through). Then when it was cleared up a week later they even went back and paid me the different in the euro conversion rate the pube used when sending out payments to rapidshare.de.
no hassles nothing.
anyway, i may not like having to pay twice when i deal with ebay/paypal, but this one episode more then made it all up for me.
funny how these days EVERYTHING that a politician is intersted in is always considered to be "good for national security"...
in any case, nothing says 'secure' like giving out blueprints to a part of your infrastructure... fucking idiots.
the only thing they'll ever agree on is that thye need more ads per page, i'm guessing sooner or later the results fonts will start shrinking, or there will be a ratio of 1 valid result to 1 ad per page, and the ad will be bold and follow your cursor.
i share dark paladin's sentiments. i would love to play DDO, but quite frankly don't have the time to deal with forming groups, joining raids, putting up with stupid guilds, etc., I want to escape into the game and have fun, not put up with people at every turn.
if they'd make the rest of the game have a solo option for difficulty then they'd have my money in a heartbeat. until then, the game can continue to sit in the $10 bargain bin. its not worth the hassle (to me) to enjoy half of the game and then reach the "must group" wall and have to quit.
yeah, i have oblivion and enjoy it immensely. although i have never found myself thinking "i wish i could trade with someone". I would say oblivion is the closest thing that i've seen to what i'm after, a great game with a great story, and world to explore with constantly dynamic content (in this case via the endless mods).
i don't see much changing however with mmorpg's. the developers are happy to keep them as nothing more then a glorified chat engine for $15 a month, since the majority of the players keep supporting the model.
until the mac (and accessories) costs as little as the pc, and until the mac plays ALL the games that i can play on the pc, and I don't give one stinking fart what anyone thinks of the mac. nor will i for a second consider even getting one.

just saw that there's an Adblock for chrome too! definitely have a reason to try the new browser now...curious to see how it compares to firefox.
This is the digital world, not the political world, things DON'T have to get worse before they get better.

an antique dealer with a 95.8% feedback is a joke. i wouldn't buy a silver dollar from him/her.
then i suppose it wouldn't hurt to mention that i don't own an ipod or a cell phone? (more time for gaming and less interruptions) ;)
hehe :) maybe subconsciously, but lest anyone think i view myself as 'better', i'll just say i prefer to waste my time on games instead of tv :)

hmmm, watching people play games on tv....
do people have so little life left?
i'm a pc gamer, but man, i'd rather go to the dentist.
but then again that's my same sentiment for 99.5% of tv shows, and especially sports.

gotta make sure the status quo is maintained, god forbid we ever get a clean start again and try to make a government this time for the PEOPLE...

with the OLEDs being rated at 5000 hours of use, that's less then 2 years at 8 hours a day of usage. i'll pass on round one.
