You've not heard of NZB's eh? I can fill my pipe just as I can with a torrent and I don't have to worry about how many seeders there are. Easynews allows unlimited connections and bandwidth and the even have a global web search if you need it.
For text there are a number of free or almost free NNTP servers you can connect to (news.motzarella.org). Google is worthless. Web forums and torrents will never compare to the awesomenenss that is/was USENET.
I can't believe I'm replying to an AC, but here goes.
I don't believe it is irrelevant how much we pay in taxes. Taxes are effectively fees for services rendered. Why should one person pay more for an identical service rendered than another person?
Do you not pay property tax in your part of the world? 2 identical houses in different parts of the city pay substantially different taxes for services rendered. We all get police, fire, school etc but I don't pay the same as someone that lives in a substantially more populous area because they need money to run the city and have less people paying taxes, so whether you believe we should all pay the same for the same service, its simply not reality.
Yes. I was told specifically, by a judge. I have a Misdemeanor on my record, there are certain types of trials I cannot sit on even with that and if I were to ever get a felony, I would no longer be able to sit on a jury, at least in the Great State of Texas.
Huh? On what service? Sirius has no commercials PERIOD on the music channels. As for talk, if you have a newer unit you buffer some time on the tivo like device and fast forward through commercials on the commute you dont hear them either.

Regardless of the consensus that owning a board and ripping a ROM makes it legal for you to play it, it is stll illegal. Fair Use does not apply to ROM chips. You have the right to back up the ROM but you cannot use the ROM off any medium other than the one it was intended for, ie the Game Board.
There are however ways to obtain legal roms. Buying an Xgaming Joystick and you are provided with 6 fully licensed roms Gautlet, Joust, Defender, Robotron, Smash TV and Rampage.
There is also 1 rom placed in the public doamin by the author and 2 more of questionable origin. See the MAME site for more info.

Not to mention that you can use these 'MAME' cabinets to play hundreds of other LEGAL PC based computer games like Quake, Unreal etc or any other game that fits into the cabinet paradigm.
Console games are $60 USD while their PC counterparts are 25% or better less. I am playing Oblivion on the Xbox360 and I am glad the game takes massive amounts of hours to complete becasue I am in no hurry to spend another $60 on what is basically a slightly better version of the game that they could easily put out on the original Xbox.
I still like the 360 but I have over 60 games for my Xbox, I dont think I will be getting close to that number with 360 games unless they get Much, Much better to justify the price tag and I really dont want to hear about how much money they are spending making these 'Next Gen games' Movies are still $8 and the special effects have increased 100 fold.

Who said anything about the internet? How about the XBox Live infrastructure that has been in Beta for about 5 years now and is still not working optimally? You think Sony can just flick a switch on a cluster of servers and have a better service? Talk about horsesh*t.
Mine does. Subscribe to DirecTV and you get a Tivo for $99 - $99 Rebate (thats FREE to you and me) and you have a DUal tuner Tivo and if you subscribe to the top tier there is no monthly fee. All that and a Digital Stream? How can you beat that for free?
Its a limited Beta, the plan is to charge, not give it away. Would you say Maya http://www.alias.com/eng/index.shtml thwarts competion because they give their product away?
You had to DL a 77 meg file and read the release notes or just try to install it. Not only XP but SP2 is required.
PASTE/ System Requirements The following hardware and software are required to create images with Microsoft Acrylic: Microsoft® Windows® XP with Service Pack 2 733 Mhz processor with MMX or equivalent 256 MB of RAM 150 MB available disk drive space 800x600 monitor resolution with 24-bit color Mouse and/or digitizer tablet
It should be the other way around. Web Coders should become more standards compliant, waiting for MS to do this is like watching water boil while the stove is off.
I dont get this whole FORCED arguement. If developers coded to the standard rather than the browser as they SHOULD be doing, this would be a moot point. If you come to MyBank.com and IE doesnt work you will switch to one that does, the same way you use IE now when when Firefox doesnt work.
Do you think that Joe Luser will take all his money out of MyBank just becasue he had to DL a different browser to do his online banking?
Who cares that its the one individuals are using TODAY? Firefox is breaking through, more and more people are downloading and using it INSTEAD of IE reagrdless of what comes installed. Supported? By Who? Supported in that it comes with OS. Are you somehow insinuating that someone would not get support when they called DELL with a problem because they choose to use FF over IE?
Lets address you being a moron and feeling the need to insult rather then just express your OPINION as I have shall we? Slowly but surely is exactly what is happening, dont like the phrase? Too Bad. How about Firefox downloads increase daily which more and more people are at least TRYING it but of course you never defend your statement, you just felt like calling someone a moron.
Saying good riddance is completely feasable. Just becasue your portfolio is full of MS stock dosent mean its the only browser that users will like/use regardless of what is installed. I bought a new PC from Dell, formated it and installed Linux. Who said anything about RAPID adoption? Fact is, its happening at a rate fast enough to make MS notice and think about what they need to do to bury this browser as well, thing is, it isnt happeing this time. As for Linux OS adoption, I wont even touch it as you are obviously the clueless moron youd like to make me out to be.
MS has never shown the initiative to make things compliant why should any developers waste precious time coding a page for MS to balk at when there are other browsers out there? Firefox is slowly but surely gaining market share. I say Good Riddance to IE and make room for the new guys. Why HELP MS strenthen their hold?
OK, So the HD Tivo is $850 with a deal which is a bit much but it comes with 4 tuners and the ability to record 2 shows in either SD/HD or a combo while watch a 3rd prerecored item. The unit has a ~200 gig HD. There is no Lifetime because at this time its only available to DTV customers. On a positive note subscription is $5.99 a month for up to 8 tivos on one account, thats not PER machine thats TOTAL.
