  1. Re:Some thoughts on the cartoons on A Glimpse Into the World of Japanese Animation · · Score: 1

    I think your wrong.
I agree that many US cartoons are episodic, however many Japanese cartoons are episodic.
The fact that there is a exponentialy larger amount of animation output coming from Japan compared to the US lets us end up seeing more serial shows from Japan then are made here in the US.

Samurai Jack for instance is a mix of both. Most of the episodes are episodic in they dont directly tie rom one to the next, but something that happened or is learned earlyer in the series will be shown in all later episodes. Like when Jack learns to jump "real good", after that he uses this ability quite often.
On the other side of the coin Anime like Digi-Carat or Urusei Yatsura are pretty much episodic.

WOW. you sure angry at the world, stabbing out from from your pee-cee.

Seriously has it occured to you that it is possible to be a fan of and support animation no matter what the skin color or ethnic background of the creator?

You do realize that most cartoons we have seen for the last 40 or so years here in the US (longer actually) have been imported from Japan or some other country (like Canada).

And last there is no "anime style". While there are some styles that are common to some anime or only used in some anime, every supposed feature of anime (big hair, big eyes small mouth, big robots kicking each other) has as many counter examples where that thing does not exist as sources where is does exist. If someone only watches one type of anime they may feel it's all the same but thats a failure on their part and they should broaden the scope of what they view before complaining it's all the same or only has 4 FPS.

I agree with ya on that.
I think one problem is at least in the US it's almost impossible to legitimately buy 1/10th of the cartoons ever made that we enjoyed. I would lay out nearly any amount of money for a goof legit DVD set for cartoons like Freakazoid or Earthworm Jim (just to name a few). Sure we got Batman TAS season 1 (after how long?) and a few other things, but the lack of availability of stuff IMO is why people turn to anime and then forget that there were other things as well.

Sadly I posted so I cant mod your insanity down (and there is no mod that would be appropriate).

If we never revisit the past no one will ever learn from it. The past has some pretty keen stuff to it that the world would be a poorer place if people like you controled what was made.Sure this particular retro timeline never came to pass, but besides a blade runner style future-soon where else can we have a fun bit of escape? If every film is like Equalibrium then what is the point of any other film in those constraints? In this version he gets a kitten not a puppy.

The stargate music thing has been addressed, and you must be new to the whole world of movies, but film teasers and even trailers have been using music from other films and such for as long as they have been made. I suppose you are going to stupidly claim that all movies using Carmina Burana in it's trailer is trying to ride on the coat tails of opera? Or all the movies that use Green Onions in the trailer are trying to ride on the coat tails of Booker T. and the MGs.

Another reason I think you should be modded down is your insane presumption to speak for all the rest of the people reading slashdot. I'm sure you speak for the people who think like you, and thats fine, but not all of us only want what you describe.

I hope that your theater experiances live up to your expectations and you get everything you want in films.

Seems you didnt play the game in question, or pay any attention to the stuff outside of the act of killing.

Your character is a cold killer who was to be put to death. This character is grabbed while his execution is faked so a rich man can create snuf films using some gangs of criminals as killers for the prey he brings in.

There were virtually no innocent people involved (the reporter, your family, cant recall any others), even the cops you run into for the most part are on the masterminds payroll. All the "innocents" who get killed were killed at the hand of the gangs or the guy running the place, if you follow the events in the game.

The game via the Mastermind and plot forces you to kill ,and the only excessive thing I can think of that Rockstar might be guilty of is the more graphic your kills are the more you unlock of special stuff. Most areas are set so the next will not become accessable until you get rid of everyone in the current area.

I dont think it was the best game ever, it had it's moments, and frankly I enjoyed The Suffering much more for story.

I have had other IBM drives and never experianced problems out of the ordinary.

From reading technical articles the 75GXP line was the one plagued with problems and thats why the 60GXP was introduced.
