Can Slashdot ever accept the fact that Microsoft can do some good? I'd be willing to bet that 30% of the comments on this article will be "OMG MICRO$OFT IS GOOD?!". Accept the fact that they really can do good things and shut with the Microsoft bashing.
I think the point of this may be just because you can... Not every little hack has to have a purpose. I'm impressed just because it's cool to have been done.
Spam may be coming from Chinese _servers_, but I doubt 71% of the spammers are Chinese. Everyone in this thread seems to think that actual Chinese people are doing the spamming. I don't think this is the case.
"For example, universities using ACNS could instantly send notices of copyright infringement to students by e-mail and restrict their network access until they have removed the file."
Well dang. Without access to the network, how can I check my campus e-mail for the notice!?
Well, I'll just assume you have some meaningless job. For those of us who have to go back to work tomorrow, it is kind of nice to know that first priority will be to update the definitions!
If you don't wanna hear about the new viruses all the time, why do you bother reading the blurb and then going as far as posting a reply? Moron.
What's with all the complaining about search engine spam? I've been searching for a long time, and when I look at a result and see "canon-print.free-stuff.make-a-deal.biz" I just skip it. It's not really that hard, so what's the big deal?
All it takes is a little common sense and about an eighth of a second to skip it.
More like every company trying to find every single thing that isn't patented.. then patent and sue! What is this world coming to?
It would be nice to actually have a _few_ good companies out there, but all these patent lawsuits are proving that companies just don't care. They're in search of profit and will do anything it takes to get there.
Maniac Mansion, I think it was. A little off topic I know, but I just thought about the little code book they give you and the little red plate decoder thing...
So... it works with everything, but not any version of Mac OS less than 9?
Sure...
Now that is one of the funniest things I've read on Slashdot in a long time. Hats off to you!

Warez? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I heard the attachment size is limited to 30MB...
Not to beat a dead horse here, but can we stop calling this "hacking"? Cracking, yes.
Thank you for your time.

Now I can talk on the phone while having sex... I'll just play some nice traffic jam noises... No one will be any wiser!

Who would dare take on Slashdot in a lawsuit?! Can you imagine how many geeks would find you, surround your building, and make you suffer!?
Besides the enormous Slashdotting you would receive in return...

Oh no! A DDoE [Distributed Denial of Entry]!!! Arrrrrggghhhh!!!!
Well I see when you change your sig it changes previous posts and updates it with the new sig! How ... strange...
This will be needed soon:

Surf responsibly. Don't slashdot.
That's just a creepy image ;-)
But I love it!
This is one of the only robots I'd buy. Looks fun and entertaining, but the real clincher for me is the price.
A robot has always been a geek toy I've wanted, and this one will definitely fit my price range.
If anyone else has simliar, relatively low-priced robots, fill me in?
Thanks.
