  1. Re:what i want to see is on White Space Plan Would Reuse TV Spectrum · · Score: 1

Dude, we already have MURS (VHF 5 channels) and GMRS (UHF 14 channels). I would rather see CB'ers put some where on the 900 MHz band, say the 901-902 portion, NBFM 3 watts 100 channels. The BIG DOGS (the Prime Minister aka Sir Mixalot comes to mind) who run 1-30+ kw on 11 meters would never be able to run major amounts of power at 900 MHz. One is the cost of building amps that can run this kind power level is beyond cost prohibitive, not to mention the extreme dangers of near field in the sub microwave band; not that running 10's of kilowatts on 11 meters is any better for your health.

Not only that, they would force you to accept some bundled package of shit you don't want (phone, tv and Internet) just to get that price. Complete with all the shitty restrictions (no servers, the blocking of ports 25, 80 etc) and to force you into auto bill pay plan.

FUCK YOU! You Barney Fifes don't need to violate FCC rules in the name of "the law"! Why don't you guys do what I pay you for, you are Public Servants, you are here to Serve and Protect. Not to violate even more rules that us Jane and Joe citizens are expected to follow like everyone else. Besides, it's a two way street pal!

  5. Power company rates on LED Lighting As Cheap As CFLs Invented · · Score: 1

I would like to save power as much as the next guy. But we all know that the power company would make up for the lost revenue by simply raising rates. It seems that the more we conserve, the more they arbitrarily raise rates to keep the stockholders happy, NOT the paying customer.

  6. Don't watch TV on US House Kills Proposed Delay For Digital TV Transition · · Score: 1

Maybe this will be the final solution to those hold outs to finally realize there is more to life than watching the lobotomy box. I haven't watched TV for over 10 years. I get all my news from the Internet, broadcast and short wave radio. The only reason I have a TV at all is to use it as a monitor for my DVD player.

  8. Light = Radio waves (RF) on Wireless Internet Access Uses Visible Light, Not Radio Waves · · Score: 1

I hate stories like this. It suggests that "light" is somehow different than "radio waves". They're the same thing, the difference is that we can see in that portion of the spectrum.

  9. Presumption of guilt exception to the constitution on Police Cars To Transmit Real-Time Video · · Score: 1

Just can't help but wonder if these so called "live video" feed can be used in defense of bogus arrests. Somehow I think they would claim "technical difficulties" when these feeds are "lost".

  10. RFI on Why Your Clock Radio Is All Abuzz About iPhones · · Score: 1

Welcome to the world of RFI, most people who buy consumer electronics aren't even aware of RFI. Generally you have to be a radio amateur to know the extreme annoyances of RFI. From powerline, electric fence, TV (plasma) and switching mode battery chargers, the RF spectrum is just awash with this pollution.

Maybe with the advent of personal RF transmitters, company's will be forced to spend the extra few cents to design consumer electronics with RFI resistance in mind.

  20. EV1 revisited on Mercedes To Phase Out Gasoline By 2015 · · Score: 4, Interesting

You know, GM really stepped on it's dick when it decided to crush the EV1. Here they had the chance to become the biggest auto manufacture on the planet, design a fully electric car, nearly maintenance free. Nickel metal hydride batteries that would outlast the life of the car, a motor good for a 1,000,000+ miles, regenerative breaking, would go 130+ miles between charges (NiMH), 300+ with L-ion.

If I had the chance I would buy a fully electric car, my commute is 60 miles round trip. However, not using gas would get me labeled as a thief by the state and federal governments since I wouldn't be paying the gas tax that never seems to go towards it's intended purpose (and never goes down when said road project is finished).
