I haven't tried it...but don't the shutterglasses use polarized light (LCD tech, at it's basics, IIRC). So does the LCD monitor. From what I've read, wouldn't one cancel the other, or otherwise disrupt each other in a negative way? I could be wrong, but I've read it doesn't work.
Granted, this comes from a support call for Office, but I've called a few times for client's we service...hold time was never less than an hour. In the, "Oh, that's a known bug...and will not be fixed. But the new version will be out in a month and it doesn't have that problem."
Keep in mind that a lot of idiots with no respect for equipment have played with those. And watch what happens when Joe Blow finds out how to remove the grill...
Despite the reasons pointed out above, there's a big one that pretty much shoots your argument down (I agree with you completely, btw.) You ready for this? The Public doesn't care. They don't have to admin anything, they don't have to know how to use it effectively, they can call someone else to fix it when it breaks, they look at it as a glorified toaster with pretty buttons, and they just don't care. As long as they can just reboot, or use "the internet is down" as an excuse to get out of work, they won't care, either. And tomorrow, when this whole thing has blown over, it means nothing more than the guy in the basement that they never see has done his job, and they can go back to burning their bread. And continue to not care.
You can't remember Trip? As posted above, he's a drunken engineer for God's sake! What are you doing on/.? (Standard disclaimers apply...for the humour impaired, I'm teasing.)
Given this is/. I have to disagree...98 ran perfectly for me...only rebooted for hardware installation. I couldn't even 2k or NT4 to load on that machine. And linux on that box...well...I don't even think I rebooted for hardware upgrades.:)
I would hope so...if I recall correctly, even the most recent Quake came out a few years ago. If UT2003 didn't look better, do you really think Epic would still be in business? I'm not usually one to criticize what others say, as I've said my share of dumb things, but....Duh!
Better idea...if "goatse" is located in a submission...censor the post. I'm usually the last person for censorship, but this is rediculous. Besides, would you really want to read a post about some guys giant infected ass? Maybe then the idiots will get bored and leave and/. will be somewhat closer to what it used to be. I can dream...
Hey now...I only read Slashdot. If you look close, there's easily a day's worth of the most intelligent flaming I've ever seen. Where else can you find someone calling someone else an ass, only with 20 character long words in Latin?
To the best of my understanding, the Borg shields can only stop energy weapons. The Borg cannot block bullets...in fact Picard kills then with bullets on the holodeck in First Contact. That's how he found out they were outside the ship in the first place...sparking this entire discussion...:) irony...gotta love it.

It is made out of titanium...they say so towards the beginning of First Contact when Picard is leading Lillie (Lily?) through the ship.

"But if they really expect me to beleive that Neo can transmit data back to the real world without a carrier signal, I am hard pressed..."
-but he did stop the sentinels...
Given the complexity of this solution, the term "hotwiring" no longer applies. There's got to be a red and black wire in the thing somewhere...
But they had teenage lesbian witches!
You're right...oddly enough, this very quote popped into my head earlier this evening. I know, should be working...

That woulda been a helluva lot cheaper...
Scoria...Linux is not a food...
The original metroids only moved four directions...and one of them was quite predictable.
Is it just me, or did he just describe compiling the linux kernel?

Those are the same problems I had with my blown Abit...

If I had mod points, this would be marked "Funny". oh well...more good humour lost in the drivel.

Not knowing email addresses didn't stop them from sending mail. Why should not knowing physical addresses?

It makes you wonder if that was the author's intent with the entire post. :)
