How will this effect the cost of the CD media? It doesn't sound very cost effective to me, seeing how it would be a matter of minutes before someone wrote a program to crack it. I'm sure the developers know this too.
Watching the Behind The Scenes featurettes isn't just the same anymore. I remember watching the making of Star Wars, how they'd string up the space ship models and rig them with firecrackers. Now its like "this is the computer where we do everything... it starts out in a wireframe like this and then we map on the textures." Whoopdeedoo. Its just not the same.
You will, however, get an almost new copy of Microsoft Space Shuttle Simulator. If you agree to pay the $350 shipping, he'll include the nifty joystick.
Its funny how many people have vibrate functions on their cellphone and STILL have it ringing like a banshee in the most inopportune times. I only have my cellphone on ring when I'm in the car. All other times, I let it buzz me.
"Oh, I need to set my watch alarm to remind me about my 3:00 meeting... lets see... cron..."

Of course their booth at Macworld is huge, just look at how many copies of Office X they sell.

They probably don't send programmers to the conferences anyway. They'd more likely send some marketing people or something. If you asked OUR marketing staff a technical question, they'd stare blankly at you too.
The people at the MS booth probably didn't know much about the Windows kernel, much less the Linux kernel.
I actually got a few gulible people with Shampage. Ahh the days of BBS when everything was simple and slow (but we didn't care because the largest games were 1 meg.)
I skimmed the article, wasn't the shrinkwrap agreement basically a "you can't copy this information and make a profit off of it" agreement? Its just another way to legally safeguard their IP. More power to em.
When I get a fiction book that has a license, then I'll worry.
If their intent IS as good as it claims, then I say good for Microsoft. Of course, would them sticking their hands in Open Source make things better or worse?
An OS that runs in a browser on top of an OS... at first glimpse it sounds pretty dumb but I think its actually a cool idea. I run Windows right now, but I like playing with other OSes (and I don't feel like monkeying with my partition right now.) So why not just load one in your browser?
Isn't that what Windows.NET was going to be back in the day when the word.NET was uttered by Microsoft? I know thats what Office.NET was gonna be.
Just don't take any pictures. If I remember correctly, they "fall down" pretty quick because they dislike having their pictures taken more than Sean Penn.
I'm surprised that they didn't plan Linux as one of the premiere platforms. One of their major demographics is the geek community right? One of Linux's major demographics is the geek community right? Doesn't that just make sense?
If the laptop manufacturers made it easier to upgrade their laptops, I'd actually get one. The reason I'm sticking with a desktop for now is that I've been able to keep the same one for years and years just upgrading it. A laptop, I'd probably end up hitting a wall and shelling out $1,000+ for a new one.
While I agree that palm computers are lacking in the Input department, I don't see that as being the reason they aren't more widely used. Personally, I don't use mine everywhere because either I can't carry it (its bulky in my pocket and I don't always have a bookbag with me) or I'm just simply not at a place where I CAN use it (finger keyboard or not, when I'm walking I can barely chew gum much less use a Palm.
Besides, I know how to use a keyboard, why learn to use a different kind? I'm getting to the point where I can't learn new things as easily (I'm turning into my parents!)

I guess I spent $150 on an MP3 player for nothing. Damn.
$10 says SACDs will cost even MORE too.

I use IE.

I also use popupstopper (from Panicware).
So.... I have pop-up killing!

I wonder what addon packs it would have?
Sim Terrorism(R): Nuclear Winter anyone?

Now that you can't backup your data, does that mean that MS will release an OS that won't crash as often?
Maybe this is why they stopped shipping MS Backup with Windows. They saw it coming!

I got the page to load, but the pictures wouldn't come up. Being that I can't read Korean, that does me little good.
Anyone care to translate this page for us?
How is this a troll?

Yeah, really makes you want to mod your laptop to generate even MORE heat, doesn't it?

Oops this was meant for the previous story. How in hell did it end up here? I haven't even read this story yet!
