It's like shopping at JC Penney or Sears and the salespeople hound you EVERY 3 MINUTES. Thanks, but I already know how to shop and you just turned me off to your store.
...or Radio Shack and their need for my address and phone number when I buy a pack of batteries.
That's not the point. The Mac can tell when booting if the floppy is bootable or not and if not, don't give an error and continue booting from the hard drive. Whereas with the PC, you have to disable it, then should you need to boot from floppy, have to rearrange the boot order.
This just in.... Apparently the RIAA, has pulled a patent out of it's ass for music, a press release states that they will be back charging royalties/license fees since the beginning of time.
If Jonh Q. Public buys a new PC that won't let him copy his CDs, then he may be pissed, but he may not lay all the blame at the doorstep of the media companies. And if they shut down the file sharing systems, the smae thing happens.
I don't think this will ever happen. It might be able to stop him, initially, but there it always be someone to hack around any copy protection scheme. This would be like if the government decided to force the car manufacturers to put speed governor's on new cars to prevent them from going over 65 mph. Some people might leave them on but a lot of people would figured out how to disable it very quickly.
I think it's his fault. If he didn't make the PC so easy to use and available to most of thw world, then no one (or most individuals) wouldn't have computers and therefore couldn't copy and share music.:-)
Yes, they screw things up sometimes, but they get it right a remarkable amount of times, certainly more often than the political prostitutes we have in Congress.
This is why it our founding fathers created the system of "checks and balances."
...except for a bit of financial backing ive never seen a public library significantly related to the local govt.

"We explain to people, and they get real upset about it in most cases because they feel like they're paying for this in taxes, so why should they pay for it again?" Nearman said.
If it's any consolation, even the state has to buy its own copies, he said.
The fscked up thing is that we are paying for the code since the state is paying for their copies with taxpayers money. Even the libraries are buying them w/ taxpayer money.
The ones that are not cheating will again be able to trust that being graded relative to their peers is a fair process.
Grading should be objective based on what one has learned (meeting the requirements of the class), not what one has learned compared to the rest of the class.
It gives people like me, who acually like coding and have worked hard to get good at it, a bad image when anyone can get the same grade because they downloaded a decompiler.
Obviously, these people are going to work for Microsoft one day:)
The problem with the internet and sharing is the size of it. If everyone gets fast connection and the quality increases (mp3 destroys the song to much) artists and everybody else working with music will not be compensated. It IS reasonable that people get paid for their work.
But, with blank cd-r and cd-rw media and a cd-rw drive, I can create perfect copies of cd's. I don't even have to buy the cd's in the first place, I could theorically;) just copy all my friends cd's.
There is one argument against taking everything online. What many librarians will tell you about paper journals is their archive value. We know how to make books that will last for 500 years, and they'll be just as legible then as now. No system crashes, no technological obsolescence. Of course the exploding volume and cost of academic publications is making this a little moot, but it is one to think about.
Also, when has the last time a search engine was used on an archive of hardcopy journals?
How do we know they they tried responding? It hasn't really been that long that we've been listening. Not to mention the fact that a message could come from almost any direction, and frequency.
Well, i don't bother to use my TiVo to record the lame edited movies on TBS and TNT, I'd rather watch the whole movie!!
Oh wait... they can do this with magazines and the internet as well!!!
Uhh... it's stealing content to not look at the ads in magazines and newspapers, and to not click on *every* banner ad... :-)
...or Radio Shack and their need for my address and phone number when I buy a pack of batteries.
Well, at least they are announcing *both* versions, instead of following Lucasism and having the hardcore fans of the series end up paying for both.

It depends on if the tire blew out first causing the drunk driver to roll over into the family!

yeah, definately, K-mart underwear. Froot of the loom underwear.
Personally, I don't mind commercials when they are entertaining, and not just blatant shoveling of crap to viewers)
Unless I'm mistaken, this must be the first "troll" interview we've had on ./
