She objects to being treated as an object; our society needs more of that.
One thing I've noticed (living in Australia) is that our major news organs no longer refer to the body politic as "citizens". Instead, we are "consumers". An interesting redefinition of people's role in society, don't you think?
It's worthwhile for Apple, but I still can't see Sony getting much from it that they're not already getting by selling PS[123...], network adapter, etc.
I think Apple need to be careful as they try to widen their brand beyond their upmarket niche -- they run the risk of being seen to be trying to cash in on the success of the iPod with a number of hastily conceived consumer electronics ideas. Also, going head-to-head against Microsoft, in an area Microsoft has proved willing to dump cash into in great quantities recently, is probably not something shareholders would appreciate.
I'd be interested to see it happening, but doubt that it will. Still, I'm ready to be proved wrong...
Your target market is "Mac owners who want to play games, and don't already have a games PC or a PS2/XBOX." That's not going to be large enough to be worth Sony's effort... if Apple do the work, bundle it with (inside?) the Mini and pay a decent chunk of money to Sony on the licensing, Sony might do it if there were other things going on with Apple at the time (e.g. the much mooted iFilms idea) but I can't see it going ahead otherwise.
It's already out now and it's actually somewhat useable. But then again, it's lacking various features you might want and it doesn't do anything special that might make you want to use it.
Ep 5 would have sounded pretty weird if Vader had said, "Luke, meesa you fadder!" Ep 4 would have sucked if he had said "Meesa find yousa's lack of faith distoobin!"
The way Lucas re-edits already released films, expect to hear this in an "extra-special" edition a few years from now.
Episode I was like watching my childhood melt into easily-marketable claptrap, and Episode II felt like the actors had full-body botox.
The first three films were easily-marketable claptrap, but after seeing Episode I it was clear that Lucas was taking himself way too seriously. I didn't see II and I'm skipping III.

To all movie scriptwriters out there -- I'd pay good money to see this. Just wanted that on the record.
I think EA needs a Miramax. A wholly owned subsidiary to do some 'riskier' games that won't, hopefully, tarnish the EA brand and upset the shareholders. (Of course, Miramax got too big too quickly, which I don't think was Disney's original intention...)
They did make one good choice though; remaking a bad film. It can only get better. What are people thinking when they remake Psycho or Texas Chainsaw Massacre?
There is no way in hell OBL could attack the US enough to remove reality TV, and he knows it. (And he's not even asking for that.) Getting rid of 'western culture' at this point would basically require nuking a third of the planet.
I had no idea reality TV was so entrenched. Still, if we can get it off the air once and for all, surely a third of the planet is a small price to pay...
The manager who won't let you take a few days off because you're suffering from a nervous breakdown or your marriage is falling apart is a pretty piss-poor manager.
Just being sick is no longer enough, I see. Incipient madness or the breakdown of your entire family unit are now the preconditions to skip a day of work.
Christ, I'm glad I'm not living in the States.
(I'm self-employed, and I work myself damn hard, but I'm not about to enforce the same terms on others.)

It's a quote from Heathers , during a croquet game IIRC...
Maybe they fired him because he couldn't find the Shift key?

I think it would sell well.

Debian GNU/Linux 3.0 (a.k.a. woody) was released on 19th of July, 2002.
Don't let that stop you trolling, though.
US law doesn't extend over the entire planet. Yet.
Everything is art. Not everything is good art.
(Not everything is bad art, either, but Sturgeon would of course put the minimum percentage somewhere around 90%...)

:)
By this, do you mean GNU/HURD or Longhorn?
What advantage is that?
Just because you're paranoid, doesn't mean that everyone's not out to get you. Or something like that.
Cable downstream is faster, isn't it? Also, a lucky few are on faster DSL speeds, although those services are mainly trials etc.
They said that because "people are an exploitable resource", which means much the same thing, sounds too callous.
Well, as far as Microsoft's concerned, these "best people" aren't innovating for anyone else, and that's worth paying their salaries for.
Yes, but what is the Question?

Specifically because he feels the oppressive dictatorship isn't Islamic enough. Somehow Osama doesn't strike me as a potential democrat...
Seriously, they would if they could.
Also, Apple's "Rip. Mix. Burn." advertising campaign didn't win them too many friends among the RIAA members...
