You just have to be practical about it instead of dogmatic and mix it with capitalism where needed.
Sure China is a way too communistic and controlling for my taste, but the stupendous US dogma where capitalism and religion are supposed to magically fix everything is no better.
Funny how China has better internet than the US.
Important because they have a lot of users. It's a direct restriction of freedom. China seems to do it mostly to protect the dogma's they base their rule on. Also they say such a big country can not be ruled with democracy and freedom.
My solution would be to let go of the dogma's, they could explain why it's better to be moral.
And give local government more political power so they need less oppression.
So even without taxes the US internet is shit. But in The Netherlands we pay 21% taxes and have much better and cheaper internet. Proof that taxes are not always bad?
Much of that comes from religion. Cancer is accepted as a decision from god. But a Terrorist attack shows there are people who don't want freedom (most religious people want freedom now because religion has lost in the western world). This is shocking to many. Also because human behaviour is considered to be much more preventable: 'Can't we just oppress those who think differently a little bit more? Then we won't have to think about why they did it in the first place.
It seems clear that extremism cannot be fought with violence. Afganistan? Irak?
9/11 came with a massive increase in power, and what has that done for us?
Aparently there is no such thing as lessons learned for these guys.
Even more so with these guys. So what we must do is try to understand the underlying problem.
In my opinion that's religion. It blocks people's ability to think rationally about something because of indoctrination.
We should stop supporting religion. People are free to believe whatever they want, but they should pay for it themselves.
More police power just reduces the freedom we have, which is exactly what these terrorists want.
No it means that you are currently positively discriminated.
If anything changes in hiring practices it's less positive discrimination and more active searching for candidates that are a minority. Instead of only actively searching for white and asian males because you happen to know candidates like that.
Actually that's not a reality but propaganda by people who want to sell more guns. Criminals are not stupid, they know people carry guns and change their behavior accordingly.
Guns and knives on the airplanes on 9/11 would have prevented the terrorist attacks.
Of course not. If there had been guns and knives it would only make things easier for the terrorists. They would simply have altered their plain to obtain the guns and knives and used them against the people on the plane.
The negative is where we can make the most improvements and where we need to pay attention so it don't get worse. Far more interesting that things that are going well.
Causes the body to suspend production of the sleepiness stuff. Or something like that.
There's a way to change the screen color: https://justgetflux.com/
So they know their service is crappy. But instead of improving it, which would require actual work, they hide it from the people who make decisions. Every person that accepts one of these cards and does not put it online for public use is corrupt. But I guess being corrupt is normal in the US.
North Korea has nuclear weapons and a million soldier army. They might be hungry but that could drive them over the edge, by now they are more than crazy enough.
It's not just at this one story. It's always when I haven't posted on a story yet.
Actually when I start writing a post the mod options appear, so I guess from now on I'll just press "Post" when I want to mod.
I have mod points, but when I read comments there are no drop down lists for me to comment.
They only appear after I've commented, on that thread, at which point I'm no longer able to moderate that thread.
Very annoying, any way to get the moderation options to always show up?
No but they will curb the abuse of these companies. Clearly the US needs a lot more regulation to make their internet comparable to the rest of the developed world.

I thought dictionaries where supposed to include all words? Or would that make them too long?
This is why many people happily accept walled gardens.

At least they are being consistent in placing anyone that's a little bit different out of society.

Why does this get downvoted? Maybe you should provide some additional arguments why u like WP? Btw I don't have a smartphone :)
If you want the internet to remain open and free, then why are you allowing copyright to lock it down?

They din't happen at the same time. Crime has been lowering for a very long time and it was not because of more guns.

Assuming he thought this through, does that mean the US law is against the people knowing what their government is doing?

What is that?
Internet says it's voice commands, I don't have a smartphone.
go for fiber, it would be cool to see Cuba have better internet than most of the US.
North Korea has nuclear weapons and a million soldier army. They might be hungry but that could drive them over the edge, by now they are more than crazy enough.
