You obviously havn't lived in another country where you pretty much *can't sue* for anything.

I doubt this guy is going to get very much money, but thanks to him MS will probably work harder and faster to get those users who's XBox's are f*^& and get them replacements ASAP.

If it's like any of the other stories I've heard, MS is making him jump through loopholes saying his system is fine, and that if it isn't, he's still going to have to wait for X amount of months for a replacement. To me, that is being screwed over by the big guys.

In other countries I've lived it (and I love them), if you buy a defective product, your screwed. Unless it's a company who's very credible and wants to preserve their image more than abidding by the small amount of law that is required, then you're stuck with shit.

Until you get butt-raped by a company, I don't think you learn to appreciate what makes America so nice were you actually have a voice to fix things you think are wrong. All other contries I've lived in you would either be killed by the company, get death threats, or the judge would get paid off and you'd be even more screwed.

    Just my 2 cents.

The article that is being linked to is flawed and only quotes "personal thoughts" from random users and devs who are not even employed by the Mozilla Foundation (MoFo).

MoFo is only suggesting that it stops putting direct focus on Mozill Suite development and push the stand alone apps and their back-end code (which will allow integration in the future) like they had planned over a year or so ago. This is nothing new, just an idea of keeping the suite alive as a community project.

No controversy, no firefox foundation, just something that has been in their plans for years..

But oh... wait..., no one really cares to check, as dissing OS and creating lame controversal ideas is more fun.

    The simple answer is IE.
There are over 100+ different spyware apps that can install themselves automatically (or semi-automatic by disguising themselves) via ActiveX and javascript that can affect your system via IE.

Your answer is switching mom and pop over to an alternative browser. My suggestion for the easiest transition would definitally be Mozilla Firefox, although k-meleon and opera are good too.

The second problem would be Outlook, either upgrade them to Outlook 2003 (which still has issues and I'm sure more issues will be discovered) or move them over to another E-mail app. (I suggest Thunderbird, but others may differ).

I tell you this by experience as the only problems I have had with parents computers are IE/Outlook related. My dad swears he never installs anything via links or IE, but spyware always pops-up and I end up tracking down the source IE.

Alternatives are disabling allot of features in IE and Outlook, but that would make them close to unfunctional.
