Not to mention that to drive a 5120x1440 display at the necessary refresh rate, it's going to take quite a lot of GPU power. I find it annoying when the framerate drops when playing games on a regular 2D display, I can't imagine how it would feel with a VR headset. Puke-o-rama?
Starbreeze Studios has taken wraps off of StarVR, a new VR headset with dual displays comprising a 210 degree horizontal field of view with a total resolution of 5120x1440. The headset's origins come from InfinitEye, a company working on a super-wide dual-display headset back in 2013, which went into stealth mode for quite some time before being reborn as StarVR in partnership with Starbreeze Studios. The studio is the developer behind the Payday franchise, Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons, and now 'Overkill's The Walking Dead', which will have a VR component utilizing the new headset.
Considering it has a full notebook x86 CPU (and not a ultra-low-power one), while the iPad has a ultra-low-power ARM CPU, the Surface Pro should be fucking ashamed it only is 25% faster.
I was about to post that. That's like putting the motor of a freakin' tank inside a BMW Mini car.
Usually, the older the hardware, the better it was built. I can still turn on my old computers from the 1980's and they all boot under one second. Do I trust my old hard drives from 2000~2005? Not so much.
I don't trust anything made past ~1995. That's around the time companies realized that they didn't have to make hardware that could last for decades because upgrades would make their new shiny obsolete long before that.
Announcing upcoming games with a godamn release date from the marketing department that will all but insure that the developers won't have time to code and test everything properly? Extremely bad!
It gets blurry because Windows uses linear magnification instead of nearest when upscaling. It really is A grade stupid as retina (196 dpi) monitors are exactly twice of 'classical' monitors and therefore should be able to scale 1 pixel to exactly 4 pixels.
Same mistake Apple is doing. Don't these idiots (on both sides) understand that "non-HiDPI" is better than "blurry HiDPI"?
Why would a shortcut that used to work in older versions suddenly stop working in the new version, unless they mapped it to some other function?
That's like Adobe on OS X. For horizontal scrolling, the default OS setting is to hold the shift key while using the mouse scrollwheel. But Adobe? Of course not. You need to hold command while using the scrollwheel. And there's no setting to change it back either. Stupid assholes.
That's because Microsoft keeps hammering the fonts into the sub-pixels of the display. Apple still has much better font rendering on an old display than Microsoft on a HiDPI display.
Well, I meant first-person view but as a 3rd-party player watching the game.
Is your Intel Iris GPU driving a 4K, 2D desktop at 30fps or a 4K, 3D modern game at 30fps?
This is VR. There's a lot of other options to choose from to entice people to buy your hardware.
Imagine a first-person-view Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball. ^_^

Hey timothy, what's with the "bit.ly" strings? Don't you know how to make simple HREF tags anymore?

Could have been 1895 or 2095.
Oh wait, you guys haven't discovered time travel yet.
Carry on.

I think that sums it up bests. It's short and to the point. Short enough to become a tagline/rally cry/etc.

Around here, it gets so humid in the summer that we had to swim to get to school.
Announcing upcoming games? Great!

Ask him if he still has it. It's probably worth enough to list on eBay.
