I wasn't planning on running any file sharing apps there at first. I was going to wait to hear from other students the ins and outs of how they monitored their network first.
If thats the case, then whats stopping a student from running something like Kazaa on port 80? Wouldn't everything just look like normal web surfing to them then?
I'm wondering how long it'll be until we have a nice encrypted and anonymous p2p file swapping network. Surely if the RIAA/MPAA/BSA/whoever start sueing people, clever coders will develop something thats untracable. Then again, maybe something already exists and I'm oblivious.:-P
I noticed that the college that I'm going to next fall, has a policy of monitoring up bandwidth, but not down. Supposedly it has to do with the school not wanting to be sued over content distributed. I was wondering if some sort of encryption could be used to overcome this monitoring.
I was wondering. Could I use this to try out Linux without actually installing Linux on my hard drive? I'm currently running Windows XP and was wondering if I could just try it out without it really changing or screwing around with my current configuration.
Not exactly an error message. More of a message error, but I'm sure alot of people have heard of the "Please insert dick and press any key to continue..." urban legend. Ouch.
But the article says that Google ignores meta tags. I always thought that Google gave you a good listing if you had alot of people linking to your page.
"I'm considering not purchasing them when they come out, in protest of the unnecessary wait." I could imagine you in a long line at an amusment park. You wait 2 hours just to ride the latest and greatest coster, and when you get to the gate, you march out in protest saying the wait was too long. Sounds kinda stupid, doesn't it?
BTW, I'm not saying that you're stupid. I just don't see the point of even anticipating it if you are just going to protest against it.:P
It's been a trend for awhile. Remember "Mortal Kombat? Around where I live there are a bunch of "Kwik Kar Wash"es. Then again, thats nothing compared to the "1337 H4x0rZ" out there.:P
"recipes can't be patented or copyrighted" Really? I was thinking they could. Well, then maybe being "open source" has no meaning in this case. Regardless, I am still looking foward to the easy recipes.:)
Well, I think its more of a 'free' cookbook than most other cookbooks. As it is being put under the GNU Free Documentation License. So you should be able to modify, copy it, re-distribute it, etc. Much like all the GNU open source software which is out there.

haha, GHz, not MHz, but you already knew that ;)
Cool, I have a GeForce3 and a 2Mhz P4, so I'm guessing my machine will work. I'll have to try that sometime.
Thanks, I'm downloading it now! :)

Homestar says the same thing is this deleted scene from Yellow-Dello. :)
Wouldn't it tho?
centenarian ( P ) Pronunciation Key (snt-nâr-n)n.
One who is 100 years old or older.
There is a Speak & Spell simulator for Windows here if any of you want to relive those great S&S memories. :-P USA and British versions are available.
"Tons of hotographs." Looks like the /. editors could use a Speak & Spell. ;)
Article reminded me of this.

They are just laser disc rips tho. And from what I hear the quality of those bootlegs are so-so. I would rather have a legal copy made available.

Animated ads, what will they think of next?
Well, I guess you could try selling them...
What are you talking about? It says Batman Vs. Superman. Both DC characters last I checked.
Splam. C-64 emulator for GBA.
You do like Capcom and call it "Super Drive II Turbo".
Now why should they do that?
