Maybe you should make it so the monsters are not released. Too often those "monsters" are innocent and have been railroaded. Until you can prove, not just beyond a reasonable doubt, but prove beyond reproach that someone has committed a heinous crime will I agree that a death sentence is warranted. By beyond reproach I mean something along the lines of video evidence. Not someones word, not DNA (it can be planted), not a coerced confession. And if any prosecutor or police officer withholds exonerating evidence then they should be tried for murder.
You are the twit to be exact. There have been enough cases where people on death row have been exonerated, that we can determine that the government is not fit to make this decision, no matter how carefully the state gets to that point.
So you believe that money = free speech. Doesn't it stand to reason that those with more money will be given more speech? Do you feel that is the correct course of action, that those with more money can influence the results of elections just by dumping more money into it?
Your defense of the first is admirable, but try to remember that there are reasonable limits on the freedom of speech. No shouting fire in a crowded theater for example.
Half the articles anymore either need a flamebait or a slashvertisment mod. I expect the slashdot experience to continue to get worse especially after the "Update" they will be preforming tonight.
You're so correct, it is a valid negotiation tactic to place a gun to someones head and force them to give you all their money after they ask 40 times and the other person says no. We need to release all robbers from prison immediately!
Elections have consequences, and one of those is the minority party does not always get their way.
Either way I voted Green, as I will next election.
Or it could be that Republicans have tried to repeal this law more then 40 times, and have been voted down each time, and that this is their last ditch attempt to stop it. Maybe no compromise is called for at this point.
How would republicans like it if there was a republican president who had repealed the ACA and democrats shut down the government in an effort to force it to be reenacted?
Shutting down the government is NOT a valid negotiation tactic, it is equivalent to throwing a temper tantrum in the checkout of the grocery store because mom wont buy you a candy bar.
Either way this whole thread is offtopic. Please down mod all, including me.
I'll take you up on that, so I win your ten dollars which I will use towards the previous bet. Worst case I am out nothing, best case I am up twenty.:D
Because this matters, and frankly I prefer to discuss this sort of thing with my fellow slashdotters. Sure maybe we troll each other some, but its head and shoulders better commentary then what you will find on CNN for example.
Ive done it after a week, and I have been deployed as well, it is easy enough to take your laptop to the computer tent and get you some Internet. Your biggest issue is the speed of the Internet, you will be able to log in fine, good luck d/l the updates though. In fact there were a few enterprising individuals who had satellite Internet in their rooms.
Oh and do me a favor don't use the "Think of our servicemen" argument. As a veteran I can tell you we don't like being patronized.
It is obvious that your shill detector is not working.
Let us see. The post was offtopic. The post used faulty logic trying to make google hits as evidence of a serious problem. The post also blatantly suggested an alternative product.
Frankly I like both android and apple products, and I concede that windows phones may have a niche. I still call out a shill when I see one, no matter who they are shilling for.
I always purchase the big games at 75% discount. I know what I am getting when I do that. It is license to play the game, nothing more.
If I want friends and family to play the game with me, I typically buy them the game as well. I've also been known to purchase and gift humble bundles.
I can buy 4 copies of a sale game on Steam for under the price of an hour of my labor. My time is too important to rail against the machine over something as trivial as that.
OK, my point was that it is a small airport in that there are very few gates, and a very small terminal. The airport serves what about 40k people if you include wainwright?
The "International" airport in Fairbanks is smaller then many regional airports I have been to. Sure they have a runway big enough for 737's but the place has like 4 gates. You can throw a rock from long term parking and hit the terminal building. I think they literally have one lane for TSA screenings.
(As of about 3 years ago. I admit things might have expanded some since then, but I doubt much.)
I am curious. How is Steam by far the worse walled garden?
Do they prevent you from installing applications from other sources? No.
Do they remove installed content from your computer? No.
Are they planning a Open OS? Yes
I haven't had the time to really play with linux for a few years, but the last time I did I remember that the boot screen (Opensuse) had some sort of animated screen, but if you hit Esc then it dropped you to the scrolling text. Was this not an option in the distro you used? Honestly the whole things sounds like a tempest in a teapot. Does it really matter that much? I am not trying to be flippant but why does there HAVE to be a spinning logo?
This argument holds no water. Steam's DRM has not cause anyone I know any issues playing their games. In fact they have even loosened control even more to allow you to share your games.
I only hate DRM that keeps me from what I paid for. Steam's DRM has not done any such thing. If you want to complain about DRM, please target GFWL, Ubisoft, and EA.
I'm using it today, in fact I have taught myself some programing with it. I am not a developer by trade, but I realized I could automate some of my monthly tasks with it. It has taken a two day job down to about 4 hours for me, and that is every month. I needed something that was relatively easy to learn, where I could find a lot of code examples, and had good interaction with office.
I have yet to find anything "missing" from the express edition. I am sure there are some high level developer tools, and maybe some of the crazy database tools. I can tell you though that I have incorporated word, excel, acrobat, and sql express to create what I needed with out needing any of the pro tools.

You are complaining that your 12 year old (at least) tv hasn't future proofed you? Its lasted you this long hasn't it?

While they do have high salaries, it looks like the drivers and agents make around 60k. http://sanfrancisco.cbslocal.com/2013/10/09/phil-matier-plenty-willing-to-work-for-current-bart-wages/

So you are about two blocks away from your home which has FiOS?
You might be able to use a long range directional antenna (cantenna) to reach your work, then you could save money by dropping the DSL.
Methinks you need to move away from the coasts and then find out how things are. Troll

I would thought you would have to be logged in to shill, I mean how else will you get paid per post.
Ohh BTW the search term "Windows phone 8 sucks" gets me 14 million hits. Obviously going by hits in Google isn't that great of a bench mark is it?
No, but if its cured it in ten years the macites will give him credit, for bringing it to everyones attention.

I like my old games and still play them occasionally. I definitely don't want to sell them for the what 5 or 10 dollars you would get from gamestop?
Maybe I'm just a game hoarder. But if that 5 bucks is worth it to you, have at it.

At 9 comments in, I am surprised there isn't one yet.
