So are you saying that a Supersaurus was dexterous enough to roll around on the ground? This isn't a small Cat we're talking about here. Here we have a very large, very heavy Reptile-ish creature. We should all know by now that the larger something is, the less agile it can be. Even a Cat can't reach some points on it's body.
And this isn't a Bird, what use would a brightly colored Supersaurus be, it would be a target if anything. I'm sticking to what I said, I'm sure it was a darker shade. The examples you gave are for Poisonous creatures, they are brightly colored to indicate a warning to potential attackers. The defensive mechanism for a large Dino like the Supersaurus would have been it's sheer size, mess with me and I'll stomp you, sort of thing.
I mean come on, you're talking to a guy who devoted a small portion of his life to the grooming habits of Blattaria.
They were different shades of Green, some almost Brown in color. Hunters such as T-Rex had multi-colors, a mixture of Green and Brown to better blend in with the surrounding brush. The really tall Dinosaurs actually developed a mildew on their Skin due to collecting Pollen, Bird feces and other organics and being unable to bathe like their smaller counterparts. At least that's my Theory. =)
That's exactly why I use Linux exclusively now. I have choices as to how my system works and what it looks like. With Windows I was stuck using what Microsoft thought I wanted to use and no option to change it. Sure, I could go back and use the old version but I would have no updates. At least if I used an old version of Linux, I could add a PPA or something that ported back the security fixes and such.
I enjoy the freedom of choice that Linux offers me and the I enjoy being able to look at the code if I feel something may be out of the ordinary going on. Also if something doesn't work, and you know how to code, since you have access to the code; you have complete freedom to repair it and let others enjoy it. Disagree with me if you want, I am unable to use Windows anymore, it's just too damn restrictive.
I only use AMD GFX in my Linux boxes. Can't say I've had a single issue using the stable branch. Nvidia on the other hand, I've had too many issues. I'm guessing it all depends on what other components are in your box, not everything works in perfect harmony together. My best luck is with Asus and AMD 6670, compared with the almost impossible to use GT240 on Linux. Both of those cards have similar performance by the way and are from some of my comparisons.
There are about 39 Million completely Blind people in the World and about 30 Million Xbox Live Customers. So I guess Xbox Live is a Niche market by your way of thinking right?. =p
What company wouldn't want to make 2 Billion extra dollars by selling these devices at $60 each?. Perspective is the name of the game.
Something can be done about it, whether or not you like it is a different story. All those computers can be converted to Linux boxes and I'm sure they can find the software for all their medical records etc. If they can't find it, I'm quite sure some coders would be willing to write some for substantially less than than the $10,000 required for switching to yet another version of Windows that will be out-of-date in a year or two.
They need to decide if they want to continue on this never-ending path of spending a fortune whenever Mr. Ballmer says jump. That's the matter at hand, spend a small fortune or do it for free or nearly free and not have to worry about the security of your customers. I'm quite sure some deal could even be worked out with a Linux group willing to help out if they could; although I know of no such group off hand. Well their it is, I told you in advance you wouldn't like it. You have options if you suck up your closed source pride.
You should know by now that the Stock Market isn't a very good medium for judging anything; It's no different than a visit to Las Vegas. But, there use to be a time when you could invest in a Company because you cared about the Company and wanted to be a part in it's growing and have a say in what happened. I seriously doubt, these days, that people even know what Company they put money in; they are in and out so fast. We should take it back to that time, and ban all this lightening trading.
The truth is, Microsoft is dying. It's going to take a long time, but they will eventually bleed to death. We all knew it was coming, nothing lasts forever. Even if they did manage to put on a good show in the next year or so, It is inevitable that such a thing can't last.
Well my needs for Video Editing, Recording and having complete control over my OS and Hardware can't be served by a Phone or Tablet. I am not average and Millions of other people aren't average either; you 'PC is dead' people are only fooling yourself. While the PC may not be in Billions of Homes, it does have a niche market that has to be filled.
So unless you can write Apps and do very high level work on a Phone and Tablet, you NEED a Desktop. It must really piss you Mobile people off that your Apps are developed on real computers or something, or maybe your going through puberty still.
I sure do, their E-Mail, to me, is better than Hotmail. Not to mention I use their messenger service with Kopete and Gyache, because I use Linux, to contact friends and family in the Philippines etc. I do NOT (will not) use Skype, ever. I mean really, we're not talking about AOL here.
You didn't hear it from me, but Gold is going to completely burst in the next few years it's "At that point". Just the other day we saw the first drop in years.
With all due respect, they don't look very 'White' to me. In fact in the clear pictures are very Latino looking men, I don't think it's very wise to be both Latino and Terrorist; double the people watching you. From my observations as a white male, the Classic 'White' person is generally yellowish/white to reddish/white in color. Not even getting into mixed races, which generally result in a Tan to Olive look which puts us yet again into the "Is he/she a Latino/Middle Eastern?" question.
Niche depends on your POV. Where exactly do all those Apps and Games come from? A Desktop of course, It's not going away at all. By the way, Linux Gaming is making a rise, Ubuntu's Software Center and Steam are seeing to that. As for this article, it doesn't matter to me if Microsoft ditched 'Metro' entirely and brought back the Desktop, I will never switch back to Windows after learning what I know about Skype and Windows being Law Enforcements tool.
I mean seriously, do people really not care that someone may be listening and watching everything they do?. And even still, you are forced to use just that one UI, unlike Linux where you have multiple choice. Not to mention when the security updates stop, you are basically forced to upgrade, most times your PC also due to Windows needing more power with each release. At least in Linux (I use Xubuntu) I can add some PPA for back-ports, it's unlikely I'll be hacked or ridden with a Virus even without them. I'm finished with Microsoft, best of luck to them but my 15 year affair with Windows is over.
Exactly. And exactly why I left the Microsoft world almost a year ago. The time I spend learning a new UI Microsoft forces upon me, I could be using Xubuntu or Lubuntu and not have to learn anything. And before you people even jump in to tell me I had to still learn Linux commands and such, no, I didn't. I didn't have to worry with hunting all over the Internet to find Drivers either, I just plugged all my stuff in and it worked. Off the wall things too, like a Cannon printer, Fujifilm Camera and Logitech C310 Webcam, ZERO user intervention.
Fifteen years of Windows and I finally find an OS that doesn't chain me up, spy on me and constrain me to what Microsoft forces me to use. Screw that, I'll never go back to Microsoft. You guys like jumping through their hoops? Then go for it, not me, Windows is totally irrelevant to me now.
Not trying to step on your shoes but the world most certainly doesn't need them as a Software Company anymore. In fact we are all better off with out them. Times are changing, like it or not the world is moving towards Open Source and Microsoft is just a pimple of what it use to be, no matter what the Fanbois at Neowin tell you.
What Microsoft needs to do is reorganize and reinvent itself if it is going to survive, perhaps in the Hardware field, although even that's not looking so good; but that's due to the Software which operates on said Hardware. Office and Windows aren't going to cut it in the next few years, and it seems as if the Windows platform and other Software of theirs, has turned into surveillance platforms for Law Enforcement.
I know it's hard to take and hard to swallow, especially if you have some sort of emotional connection to them; but facts are facts. Hating on the truth isn't going to hurt my feelings or change anything, a virtual -1 or 0 has no effect on me, I have nothing to lose like they do. Change is the only place to find answers.
He better get use to loosing all his work then, OpenShot is one crash happy application, I couldn't even edit a ten minute clip without a crash. I assume the Dev knows about it, hard to miss with all the forum posts. I'll just stick to Avidemux for smaller clips, maybe Kdenlive for larger projects.
Or we can just send Hawking and be done with his babble if he wants to go so bad. You got it right though, Human beings are just a Virus, moving into areas just to consume it's resources, only to move on to another after we've laid barren the lands. Guy down below is right also, at the rate we are going, I doubt we'll survive another 100 years without change.
The problem is, we can't change because all we care about is money. The day we stop caring about money and start working to better Humanity and our tiny place in this Universe, that's the day I'll start having faith in Humans. At this point, looking at TV and all the topics on the Internet, I can't say that we are even worth saving. It wouldn't bother me at all if I got word that our end was imminent, no disrespect to any of you, we're just not doing enough to matter.
Not really. There is a difference between a good game with lots of playability and a game that can't be played anymore when the DRM servers are turned off. There is a difference between making a good single-player game and a game where the devs can't be bothered with anything but the same dime-a-dozen multi-player.
There is a difference between a finished game and a game that requires DLC. There is a difference between a game company that wants to make games, and a game company that only cares about money. This has nothing to do with that first glass of Milk and Cookies you ever had.
As an Ubuntu user (Xubuntu), I can answer your question. I've never had to fill anything out to use the OS, but if you want to buy something from the Software Center, you need a Launchpad Account, not so bad really; if you're writing bug reports anyway. Afterwards when you buy your Software, you can have the site remember your info. I always choose not to, you'll need to enter it again if you buy something else. But that's all, nothing at all needed to get the free software or use the OS. =)
I understand what you're getting at though, I have about three pages of login info for websites at my Desk. It's a hassle really, especially if you have all different Passwords; as you should of course. I probably wouldn't mind a single, universal login for everything Internet related that rotates the password every so often. Which probably exists, but I'm unaware of it.
I have about 30, most all of them are compatible or will be once Valve releases HL2. And we already know any new games Valve releases will be Linux native. There are also dozens of sweet Kickstarter projects about to be released also. And lgdb.org has a huge database of games.
I think what you are really saying is "Where are the Graphically Superior Games". Well, IMO Graphics don't make the game, but they are nice to look at. The solution is to stop buying Windows only games and check the compatibility before you buy a game so you're not stuck.
I see what you did there. Creating something that doesn't exist, Linux doesn't have a stigma and anyone who has used Steam in the past few months knows what Linux is; you can't avoid the big picture of Tux on the download page. The only people whom deny the existence of Linux and attach the implied Stigma, are those whom have a full partition dedicated to Windows and/or work at Microsoft.
Linux is in your TV, DVR, Phones and other electronics; It's also in the new Alienware X51. The only Stigma, is that of Windows, a Branding Mark of Microsoft Corporation, that has outlived it's usefulness. Seen Gartner lately? A 7% drop in Market share this year alone, soon to be followed by a 14% decrease. I'm backed up with fact's, so where is this non-existent stigma for Linux?. Dietrich Schmitz loves to write flame-bait articles sadly.
I've been trying to avoid saying what I really feel because the people that come here and Mod comments are not rally fans of Alternative Operating Systems, but alas, out it came. Goodbye points, I shall miss thee.
It took my brother years to realize he wasn't having any fun on his 360; he was constantly dealing with DRM and various Fees to see that. It's in his closet now, and both he and I have per-ordered the Ouya. Until then we play Steam with our Linux Computers, incidentally, we haven't a single (functioning) Microsoft product in our homes. Yay! =p
Isn't EA trying to sell it's self or something anyway?. I know you guys have eyes, so I know you see this huge rise in Indie games and Indie Consoles, and all the trouble these big guys like EA are having. I don't think I would be out of line if I say I strongly believe we are seeing the end of the big companies and the beginnings of something more community friendly.
Even Consoles, the interest in PS4, WiiU and next Xbox is very low and comments on gaming sites are very hostile about the quality of the hardware and the price of the super expensive games, not to mention the crazy DRM. So yes, I think we are seeing a huge shift here, that's what I feel.
Except me. I'll stick to real Hard Drives until I'm forced to buy into SSD. I just don't trust SSD right now, I've seen too many failures and too many comments about issues. But I have zero problems switching when that's all worked out.
That's just the way I am, I stick to things that just work until they aren't available anymore. I always choose stability and reliability over the newest component. It's got nothing to do with being afraid of change.

That's pretty much it in a nut shell.

Most likely one of those extremist Republican groups that we've heard so much about. I wouldn't be colored shocked in the least bit.

Tsk-tsk, should have used them sparingly and wisely, young Jarik. =p
