They're saying other countries are moving away from their ways, since a lot of Asian economies are maturing, and only Africa remains to exploit. You mentioned corruption. Oh, trust me, they will need corruption if they're going to replace what the Asian economies have provided to the Western world for some time. How else do you treat millions of people like slaves? Good, acting businessmen certainly don't.
I don't mean to sound like an ass, but if that's your take on "a job too complicated for a robot" then I believe you are misinformed.
The technology to identify and do everything you've specified as being constraints exists. The only thing stopping them from taking over is the idea that one of them would cost something close to a couple hundred thousands dollars, likely a quite a bit more otherwise I feel like we'd be seeing them already in crops owned by very wealthy individuals/businesses (Maybe we are, I haven't looked it up).
You can bet you'll see a ton of them the second it becomes economical to do so.
Make sure it lists skills and technologies you'd like to use again, because those are what recruiters are searching on.
This.
Developers who put an exhaustive list of every single technology they've ever touched as part of their experience makes me sick and they fully deserve whatever mundane job they end up getting as a result of it.
More to your point; I would never flag Java as being something that I know how to use, because I would hate my life every day at work for having to use it. I have a general idea what kind of jobs I'm missing out on. I don't care. Currently using C++ mainly and wouldn't want it any different. The technologies and skills I've learned through grinding my whole career on that language have been indispensable. It forced me to be well-rounded and careful with what I write.
That said, I wouldn't last very long in a mundane environment to begin with. Unless the pay is insane, then I'll cash in and gtfo when I've got a nice parachute saved up. (Hey I can dream right?)
Is he fucking serious? This is a world class governing body passing laws that affect people literally all over the globe... and their excuse was "we didn't have time to sufficiently scrutinize these before voting for them."?
I can't quite quote they're exact words, but they said it well when they were talking about chimps and said "This is why we're so fucked up with eachother."
Why not just leave it up to the countries to decide the quota?
I can imagine France and Germany wanting to apply something like this, but as many people here have stated, some nations just don't produce content that's very good to begin with.
So they'll just uproot and move to a country with a "friendlier" business environment. No? Depends on the bottom line I guess. They won't ever take a cut from anything without their employees or the public paying for it somehow.
"Making a big deal" out of it like this ensures that they get full news coverage and exposure. They'll never boot him. Well... maybe once he's out of office.
I'm sure someone in the industry has run the numbers before you and determined the risk/reward was worth the loss. Yes, believe it or not, people's lives money. Stupid isn't it?
The liquefied solid probably sloshes around, and when you displace this amount of weight in a cargo ship, it can lead to some pretty nasty things structurally.
I bought one of those titanium backpacking cutlery sets last week, so now I get ads for climbing gear. Yeah, I ain't going to be climbing any fucking rocks any time soon.
Well, at least you've started taking the necessary steps in weight reduction.

And they're clearly showing their level of competency towards this process.
Is he fucking serious?

This is... fucking insane to be light about it.
Speaking of layoffs, whoever implemented that leaky piece of software better get the boot.
Did you just assume these snake's race?
Well this is escalating pretty quick.
How bout Leet and Pleb?
What about when you destroy the parent?
You've effectively orphaned its children. Now thats some pretty nasty nomenclature.
How much profit is "enough" ?
None. You don't seem to understand these people.
And the Wal-Mart White House?

Saturn is really just a big alien spaceship!

What's even more stupid is my "less than" symbol was completely removed from my post. Great job Slashdot.
Yes. To reasonable people like yourself and me, it would seem ridiculous, I agree.
You're still overthinking it. There are no analogies needed here.
I'm sure someone in the industry has run the numbers before you and determined the risk/reward was worth the loss.

Because they don't want to let go of their power. It's quite simple if you try not to overthink it too much.
Color me surprised.
Ugh...

That's what she tells me.... I'm not convinced.
