    When Jobs made the decision to disallow Flash on the iPhone, there were no third-party apps. Period. There wasn't even a jailbreak, since he made the decision prior to the release of the original iPhone. So, his decision had nothing to do with the App Store, since it didn't exist.

    Yes, I know, the Amiga is technically a "PC", but since Commodore did actually release a line of PC clones that were actually branded "Commodore PC", I consider the headline inaccurate.

    She dropped the computer off for recycling. If you throw out a bunch of stuff, and unbeknownst to you there is a mint copy of Action Comics #1 in that stuff, them once you throw it out it is no longer yours. In fact, the local municipaloty may have a stronger claim than you do in such a case.

    I have no sympathy for her if she tries to push for more than the $100,0000. She's lucky the recycling center is ethical enough to offer it to her, as they're otherwise not obligated to give her a penny.

    Pretty much, because Youtube sucks. They haven't rolled out 60fps to the mobile apps yet, even though many mobile devices can easily handle 60fps (I know for a fact that the iPad Air supports up to 1080p60).

    I fail to see how USB-C to Lightning cables would be indicative in any way of a dystopia. I quite enjoy the Lightning port, myself. It's compact, reversible, and robust. As long as the cable connects to standard USB, I fail to see the issue. The only issue I see is the rabid anti-Apple zealots who would seek to force Apple away from Lightning.

    Or jailbreak (stay off 8.1.3!) and enjoy the style and smoothness of even the current base-level device (currently, iPhone 5c) with the freedom and customization available when you knock down the wall. Hell, my iPad has a command-line multi-system assembler that can, among others, handle 6502 and 68000 code. Can your mobile device assemble Sega Genesis code? Mine can :)

    Jailbreak for packages distributed via Cydia (or .deb packages for APT, which is sideloading as far as Cydia packages go) and install Appsync Unified (not the Chinese "ppsync" crap) for sideloading of .ipa packages, in other words App Store apps.

    Say again that sideloading is impossible on iOS without mentioning 8.1.3 and you're not telling the whole story.

  15. Motion detection is a horrible idea. It just needs to be set to snap pics as often as they normally change the menu (or have it be triggered manually in a simple, push-button fashion).

    You seriously equate jammers with the "right not to be killed by some idiot on the road who decides that his right to text supersedes the fact that he's supposed to operate his vehicle in a safe manner"? What, are you jamming from your mobile vehicle? Great, so when you're passing a wreck, your jammer floods out the call they're currently making to 911, requiring a redial, costing precious seconds which could quite literally cost that person their life. All in your quest to stamp out texting and driving. News flash - all it takes is a single packet to make it through for a text to send.

    The other main reason would be to prepare the work for public release before it's eventual copyright lapse. That's assuming that Google is still around in 500 years (at least the way copyright extensions are handled it'll likely be at least that long).

    The right to control your own body's count of infectious diseases ends when you associate with other people who may or may not be vaccinated, and thus spread the diseases to some of them. Similar to the fact that your right to punch into random directions ends when my nose is in one of those directions.
