    I'm pretty sure I read about leaders of companies already being able to automate most positions, but they needed to be able to hire future leaders/managers/ceos so they had to keep lower positions around to train, evaluate and mentor people into higher company positions.

    You've just described convenience, not need. Even the emergency services, most often you can take care of by yourself or with a friend/family member.

    My friend looks up my social media account through google and slowly they got pushed to the second page. I mentioned search results had started to suck since last year and he told me about my social media stuff and it made me wonder why google's search has been worse and worse. Russians I guess, they did it all!!!

    The scientist said that within the human lifte time we might be able to see the effects of what leads to a supervolcano. Basically within decades we could start seeing signs of a supervolcano that might erupt in 100+ years. That's what the article says.

    They'll blame the "driver" just like when the auto pilot fails and the real pilot has to take over and the plane crashes it's always "pilot error".

    Of course savings accounts are crazy low interest rate. The Fed is artificially propping up both the housing/loan market and the stock market making sure you put your money their for decent returns and cheap loans to keep spending up.

    It did for most people, all of my friends that pay for music streaming don't listen to the radio. Myself, I decided monthly fees were too much and I'd just listen to the occasional ad on the streaming service. Then Prime gave me music too.

    Unless Netflix fixes it's voice control for Xbox One, if they don't, then I have no problem cancelling. The service is weak, almost all of their original content I don't really like or enjoy and they're cancelling Longmire which was the only one I really cared about watching. They've lost most of their CBS shows, all their Disney soon, and lots of other programs.

    "The resolution doesn’t call for the end to capital punishment altogether", right there in the article. "but asks member nations not to use it in a “discriminatory manner”—including against against minors and pregnant women" I assume the real issue was in here. Most likely the part about minors, the US does prosecute children as adults.

    Checks will always be nice because it buys you a few more days before the money comes out of your account, oh and the fact that it's harder to steal your information and charge you again, or in some other state. I've had Credit/Debit cards compromised a couple of times, never had any problems with my checks.

    Reddit is the same way, just means this guy doesn't go out and look for his own news. If he did he would see it many hours or a day before it got to reddit's front page. If you go to wired, AP, twitter, etc you can be the first to post everywhere. I usually post an article on /. and reddit if I find it somewhere else and it has a nerd/tech interest.

    I think it depends on the site you use. I know on my end google ad sense (since I used google at the time to do research) shows them often and it migrated to Facebook as well for the ads. I see them still on some random webcomics I go to as well so I assume they use the same ad generator as either Facebook or Google.
