I own several Tyan motherboards and none of them are unstable. I purchased two Slot A motherboards last year a Tyan and an Abit. The Tyan works without problem and the Abit fails to even post. I would spend money on a Tyan product before any other.
Salary is not any better. It may seem like a good idea but in most companies salaried employees do not get any compensation for working excess hours. You get paid the same weather you work the 35-40 hours required or 70.
The Amiga 500 had a non wall wart external supply. Much like the G4 cube has now. I would like to see something like this with standard ATX cases. Cases could be made quite a bit smaller and easier to take to LAN parties.
It wont have the same legal issues as MP3 swapping, so would be a decent business modal, especially for pay-for-subscription.
Actually, something like this would run into the same problem Napster has eventually. People would start trading images from scanned magazines or other pay sites. About a year ago Penthouse went after usenet posters of their pictures. If Napster-like porn trading started and reached the levels of use Napster has the porn industry would sit up and take notice much like the RIAA.
Actually if this is the Robitica that TLC is showing the host/announcer is Ahmet Zappa. It looks pretty cool. Hopefully they do not resort to the fake sound effects Battlebots uses.
Amazing that they can use such a term for something as mundane as programming with a partner.
XP is more than that. It leads to more effecient projects. It focuses on coding the most important sections first and go back for other sections later.
Quit a few providers did not warn their customers. Xnet/Winstar sent no information and have not posted anything about Northpoint on their site. And of course they are very slow about getting back to complaining customers.
Nintendo's first and second party games are usually high quality. The problem I had with the N64 is most of the 3rd party games I played were awful. To this day I only have one 3rd party N64 game, Bust A Move.
I agree the extra cost is worth it. Best example of this is Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1 & 2. I bought the PSone version first and had to buy the DC version when it came out.
The voodoo 5 5500 only uses an internal power connector. The 6000, which had the external power brick, was never released. So your story is not very funny.
I have one of these. It is from www.addtronics.com model 6890A full tower with Luxury Caster option, much more stable than the normal casters. It costs $135 for the case and $15 for the casters. It is great. I put the tower in my living room, and roll it to the wall when I'm done using it. Ah the luxury of computing from the couch.
It depends on your definition of itself. In this case "itself" happens to be one. In any explination of determining if a number is prime I have never seen it written that the two numbers (itself and one) have to be different. So I think one happens to be prime.
Actually yes. I have an older Tyan dual LX(66MHz) motherboard in my server. I picked up a pair of P2 350 MHz (100MHz FSB)CPU's for $50 and underclocked them to 233MHz, since the motherboard only supports 333MHz at a 66MHz FSB it was the only way to get them to work. Two 233MHz CPU's is better than one 333MHz CPU. Underclocking is a good thing in some cases.
Consulting is a good idea but it is tough. The rates have dropped out of the market. Jobs that I would have made $85-$100 an hour last summer are now offering $35-$40 and even those are tough to come by. And from what I have seen it is like this across the country. I am thinking about getting a W-2 job just to have some cash flow.

...or more money than a small country...
$250,000 is still a large chunk of cash. I imagine not many people have that in their couch cushions.
Observation: You should not be an hourly employee

TiVo should try to develop their technology (maybe use Linux in their boxes instead of Micro$oft?
What are you talking about? Tivo already uses Linux. You can even get the source for it. A little research goes a long way.

Sony's evilla appliance uses the BeIA. Check www.benews.com for info.

Most of the Dreamcast games do not use WinCE. They are mostly native DC games. The ones that do use WinCE do have to have a license for the OS.
Crazy Taxi and the 18 Wheeler game are both going to the PS2

What Wince "factor" Dreamcast does not use Wince unless the developer puts Wince on their GD-ROM disc.
The main factors for its failure was not enough advertisment, not enough third party support, and the stigma of being burned by SEGA in the past.
Don't get me wrong, I love my DC. I play it more than my PS2 or any other system I have. I am really sad to see it go.

actually no it does not.

I get about 4 hours out of my Thinkpad A21 battery.

The Z80 has driven everything from the Osbornes of old to TI claculators to the Game Boy!?!?!?!
Quite a few old arcade games also use the z80.
The new GBA also has a z80 for backwards compatability with old GB/GBC games.

ever heard of underclocking?

...and very few games were released supporting the miserable advance in features
Bullshit. Pretty much every game released since the GBC came out is color. And color without a battery sucking backlight is a Good Thing TM.
