If Gravity had been even remotely realistic both characters would have simply died, with no hope of survival. If you start with a premise of Shuttle astronauts on an EVA working on Hubble, and said Shuttle is destroyed or seriously disabled, there is only one possible outcome in real life. But watching two characters sit around and wait to die wouldn't have attracted many moviegoers, I dare say.

Hey, $8 million is a lot of money when most of your "workers" will be desperate grad students willing to work for next-to-nothing (free tuition and maybe a tiny stipend that doesn't even add up to minimum wage). I bet I could stretch my company budget a helluva lot farther if I didn't have to worry about healthcare, pensions, etc. and had a workforce that would fall for the idea of working for nothing (ironically based on the premise that it will one day help them get a job that doesn't pay nothing).

Anything preserved from our era would be an odd novelty to them at best.

  10. Netflix is starting to worry me on Netflix Pursues Cable-TV Deals · · Score: 1

I'm more concerned about the fact that their content of late seems to be shrinking. I've noticed that a lot of TV series that I had in my queue, that had every season available, are suddenly being cut back to 1 or 2 seasons or just a fraction of the episodes being available. And a lot of movies have been disappearing too.

Looks like their push towards exclusive series and big headlines is starting to take a toll on their mainstay broad content. If they're not careful, they're going to hype their way right out of their traditional core audience. I don't pay $8 a month just for their latest Emmy-nominated series of the moment. And I don't expect to see my queue shrink every day just so they can budget more for Kevin Spacey's hookers and coke fund.

FTFY. Daniel Domscheit-Berg is behind this movie, as he was the book on which it's based. And it's my strong suspicion that Berg was either a CIA or FBI plant at WikiLeaks. He began sabotaging the operation almost from day one, attempted (successfully) to destroy many of its documents, and has actively participated in the concerted effort to discredit Assange ever since he got canned.

I would call him a "traitor," but that would imply that he was ever an actual ally.
