What a shitty OS this is! They release an OS full of holes and then patch them all up afterward, and they expect us to see this as secure? Ha! Just goes to show why nobody in their right mind would ever use a shitty OS like Windo...er, Linux...
I seem to remember the concept of an anti-grav "sweet spot" being used in one of the Trek novels, or perhaps the old animated series. I can't quite remember where it was, though.
Uh, maybe I'm mistaken, but isn't channel 32 in Portland the WB? That's what my TV says, anyway, and the fact that they call themselves "WB32" kinda supports it...
Actually, the Vulcan who oversaw Spock's Pon Farr ceremony was T'Pau.
And isn't it only Vulcan males who experience Pon Farr? In The Search For Spock, Saavik tells David that Pon Farr is the Vulcan male puberty, which implies that it does not happen in female Vulcans. Or perhaps female Vulcans go through a seperate, but similar type of thing?
In other news, Pharquar P. Parkenfarker of Los Angeles bought a newspaper today at approximately 9:03am Pacific Daylight Time. It is widely believed to have been his first newspaper purchase of the day.
After purchasing the paper, Mr. Parkenfarker sat down on a bench for the very first time today and waited for a bus for the very first time. At approximately 9:13am, Mr. Parkenfarker boarded a bus for the very first time today, and at approximately 9:47am he arrived at his office for the first time today.
Following this, at approximately 9:52am, Mr. Parkenfarker said "Good morning," to a coworker for the very first time today, and proceeded to drink today's very first cup of bitter, badly-made coffee from the office coffee pot (which he saw for the very first time today at approximately 9:55am).

Um, no. Drones are not biological organisms, thus they do not constitute biological warfare.
There's a big difference between censorship and politeness. Many, many people lost friends or family members in the attacks, and most people who didn't lose someone know someone who did. For these people, even the most innocent lyrics in the most innocent song on the radio could very well trigger painful memories.
This was not an act of censorship, it was an act of sensitivity toward the victims of this tragedy. Grow up, guys...not everything is a conspiracy to strip you of your freedoms. You can still buy all these songs in stores or download them online.
I'm playing it on a 1.44 GHz AMD, GeForce 2 Ultra, with 512 MB DDR RAM. At 1024x768 with all the quality settings set to high, it runs smooth as silk. Your problem is most likely bandwidth -- are you playing on a DSL line? Try creating your own server and running around for a while. See if that's any different.
The jumpiness may just be inadequate hardware on your part. I'm running it on a 384Kbps up/down DSL line, with a 1.44GHz AMD proc, GeForce 2 Ultra, and 512MB DDR RAM and (not surprisingly) the game is smooth as silk. I love it.
I am no more qualified to inform you of the events taking place in New York and Washington, D.C. than CmdrTaco or Hemos are. I recommend you watch NBC or CBS; I've been following their coverage throughout the day and have found them to have what seems to be the most accurate and up-to-date information.
Hemos, CmdrTaco, my intent is not to flame, but this misinformation you are spreading disguised as news has got to stop. Slashdot is, at its core, user-reported technology news. When it comes to anything more than that, the potential damage that can be caused by misinformation spread on such a large scale is far too much.
The Slashdot articles regarding the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon are literally filled with misinformation that is represented as fact. I can't help but wonder how many people are reading Slashdot and not bothering to verify the information.
Please, let's leave the high-risk reporting to those qualified to do it. You're doing more harm than good.
Civilization, Civ2, Alpha Centauri, Sim City, The Sims, SimAnt (if you can find it). All are good, mostly nonviolent, brain-stimulating games.
You might also want to look at the old Apogee/3D-Realms games, which you can download here. Many of them are nonviolent, and they tend to enhance problem solving skills to some extent -- especially Math Rescue and Word Rescue.
This movie is mainly a continuation of Chasing Amy, and tries to tie up the rest of the movies; Clerks, Mallrats and Dogma.
I think you may have seen a different movie than I did. Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back is most definitely not a continuation of Chasing Amy, nor does it wrap up all Smith's other films. Although you do have a point, in that this movie does get most of its plot from the characters and events in Chasing Amy.
SPOILERS BELOW. STOP READING NOW IF YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH.

At the end of Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, we see Alyssa Jones talking to her friend/lover and we also see Hooper LaMont talking to Banky Edwards, who we learn is his friend/lover (!!!). This wraps up Chasing Amy to some extent, but what little we saw of Holden McNeil in the beginning of the movie still doesn't wrap up his character. Furthermore, Mallrats, Clerks, and Dogma were not at all wrapped up in this movie, except that we learn that Dante and Randal are still working at the Quik-Stop and that God has closed the book of the View Askewniverse and done a little dance for us.
When I worked at Intel a while back, they had stringent corporate specifications that told employees exactly how we were allowed to spell various product names. The Pentium !!! was, in fact, specified as being three italicized exclamation marks in the Arial font.
Outlook has nothing to do with SirCam. SirCam is an executable virus, not a VBScript virus. You will be infected with SirCam by running the attachment, no matter what email client you are using.
For some reason, everyone seems to think that every virus is an Outlook virus.
Several months ago I made two large purchases. First, I bought a brand new 950MHz Athlon and 384 megs of RAM for my desktop machine, and then a Dell Inspiron 8000 laptop.
When the laptop arrived, I immediately stopped using my desktop machine. I also stopped using my machine at work. I now do absolutely everything on this laptop because it is simply amazing and wonderful and good in every possible way. It does get fairly warm after extended use, but it's not what I'd call hot.
So far, I'm extremely pleased with this machine. It's never failed me once.
Before Microsoft puts anything on the official Windows Update site, they run it through the QA department for testing. Their testing procedures are very rigorous, so it takes some time. In any case, the untested patches are always announced on NTBugTraq and other security mailing lists. These test procedures are a good thing -- they make sure bugs like this one don't take advantage of the helpless users who click on the Windows Update icon and expect everything to go smoothly.
Wait for it...wait for it...ahhhhh!
(sarcasm, you fool)
Not to be a bastard or anything, but this article was in the October issue of Wired. The latest issue is the November issue.

Christ almighty, can we at least wait until the damn thing has AIRED on the west coast? It doesn't start for twenty minutes over here.

Well guys, I won. Can you send the t-shirt via FedEx Next Day? Thanks.

Too bad SirCam isn't an Outlook virus. It's an executable, smarty-pants.
