The Adelaide City Council, for all its faults, is desperately trying to lure 18-45s (their own stated demographic, bit broad if you ask me!) into the CBD. They're running a fairly expensive (for a council, anyway) advertising campaign and also have a small subsidised housing project for young employees under a certain threshold.
Supporting this sort of initiative (Citilan) wouldn't be too stupid in aiding that. At the least, they could offer a free citi-wide intranet with various arts and entertainment projects running.
Err, you're starting the shut down process, but maybe that's too obvious. It's a bit like Microsoft UI designers will start leaving the unemployment office to catch the bus home...
I use XP with the silver interface and don't mind it at all. These Longhorn shots, however, look pretty bad. It's almost like they're using Linux UI designers!:P
Seriously, surely they aren't paying whoever came up with this. I've seen better interfaces done by unpaid amateurs on skinz.
On convergence, I think that you'll always want a separate camera and phone (well, most people will), but I can see a combined phone and MP3 player being useful. What looks difficult with this NSeries is that the interface has been reduced to allow for the screen size. I have a beat-up Nokia something (no camera, no harddrive, old-style ringtones) with a B/W screen the size of a postage stamp (literally) but that's all I need. I don't need pretty visuals when playing music, plus they're just wasting battery power. And I rarely feel the need to have an integrated camera -- it's bad enough when friends are trying to show you the dodgy lo-res, blurry videos they took of their pets doing silly things.
It'd be cool if these future cameras had a flip-out USB2 plug so you didn't even need a cable -- just insert it into your laptop to maintain your contacts, to-do list, calendar and whatever else.
Should/could it have been done over a number of episodes a la LOTR or Star Wars. I mean, imagine how much of LOTR would have had to have been left out if it were done as a single film!
The US won't be trying to "play fair", they'll be playing by *their* rules.
Then if it were, say, the US vs Australia, Australia would bow to mimic the US legal restrictions in order to maximise benefits in a free trade agreement and/or of protection provided.
When it comes to US vs China, will China care for that bargaining power? On the point of security, not at all. On the point of a free trade agreement, I'm not sure.
True, but now that data will be tied to less-than-anonymous accounts. The advantage for Google is that they will have broached the concept of "having an account to use a search engine" which will enable them to do more powerful things.
I'm looking forward to trying this one. I lost interest in the later stages of the first and second SC games because of the fascination with alarm levels and so on. I like more run and gun in my games (like Halo 2) so the change suits me!
What about some of the posts teens are putting on forums these days? I'm pretty sure it's not English that they're using. What language has such common usage of numbers in everyday conversation...?:P
Tell me about it. Are these people playing while standing up with their arms outstretched!? When did the wider population become so small that the Xbox controller is too big for them?
My brother and I play a lot of Halo 2 and love those original controllers and always force guests to use the S Controllers so we can use the originals. OK, we're 6'3" and 6'9" but even friends who are shorter and have smaller hands have never complained about either controller (most are from Playstation background).
I would bet that a substantial percentage of people on here are just looking for something to whinge about because it's a Microsoft product!
For those looking for a better reference of the measure mentioned, Speed of a Bicycle is in between Mum Falling Down the Stairs, and Cat Jumping Out of the Bath.
Further to these tips, create an e-newsletter to keep people aware of your existence and upcoming gigs. Very cheap method of staying in touch with fans.
Also, make it easy as possible for people to hear your music. So many times I've been half interested in hearing something, but been deterred by having to start up WMP or iTunes or having to download Real or whatever. I know that Flash isn't exactly a favourite of the herd here, but I like the setup used by WA007 for Sprewell Motorsports (also used on the Dub Magazine site) -- they have an inbuilt Flash applet that streams music while you browse the site:
At least this is going to be better than the first two. They were so bad that I had to take the *next* day off sick just to recover.
Internode is rolling out ADSL2+ in Adelaide this month actually.
It's a dupe from earlier today. ;)

It's always seemed to me that the problem is more to do with the Editors than the Moderators...

Not sure why they don't just rename it "Liger". After all, "It's pretty much my favourite animal..."
Sorry, didn't realise. There's been virtually no publicity for the film where I am.

I went forward in time and took this photo at the gig!
Rock on!
What about the obviously incorrectly spelt word, "looooong"?
I can't believe that you missed that one!

Moderate: -1, That's not the point!

Slashdot: News for Nerds, Physics for the Vague.
I can see them combining this with the LED dance floor posted yesterday for some serious Plane Dancing!
Come to think of it, one of those dancers did kinda resemble a blimp...
They're going to need something that can pick itself up again if someone rams it with a car and knocks it over.
Still, future defence bots are going to be big money...
And the same thing again -- your house need not be impossible to break into, it should just appear more secure than those of your neighbours.

My jaw dropped when I read this story. All the other 4/1 jokes were weak, but this one was literally shocking.
