The pattern more than likely will be something like this: 1. get called out for bullshit, anti-consumer practice 2. Throw out PR spin about how they care about their customers, and don't do said practice 3. Finally admit to the practice, promise to stop 4. Wait a length of time until the practice becomes more 'industry standard', and the furor has died down 5. re implement under a new name
This tracking garbage is probably far too lucrative -- both to law enforcement (well they see themselves as law enforcement) and advertisers to ever really pass up.
Now that the genie is out of the bottle, it's not going back in.
Funny, I thought western governments loved terrorism because it's the next big 'thing' to justify the continued existence of the military industrial complex.
I think we could implement AI/pattern recognition that could do it. It's more an economics question for the reasons you just listed. 26ish bucks an hour vs multi-million dollar machine, and the R&D needed to develop it..
it's a wet dream for parallel construction though. the beauty of an anonymous tip is that the FBI could tip themselves off, and 'investigate it' without having to divulge how that intel was gathered, where it came from, or who submitted it.
the fact that they aren't jumping all over this makes me kind of happy actually.
are you implying that parallel construction is anything but a bedrock of modern policing? Cmon man, even the supreme court ruled it was 'constitutional' -- we live in a society filled with bad actors at every turn who will victimize you at some point. Let's not make their job easier by handcuffing the FBI/police with needless due process:(
if you're a for-profit restaurant, then by all means -- do whatever you wish.
However if you're a tax payer funded entity, handing out a lease like that with no bidding and a term of 60 years, AND selling any of your (again, tax payer purchased assets) below market rate -- how is that not playing favorites?
I'd love to see some kind of graphic that tracks gun ownership in the US to school shootings.
And what the shit are you talking about? they're willing to murder multiple people at a school, but a slightly difficult barrier to overcome is going to stop them? Do you think they just wake up one day, snap, and then take daddies hunting rifle to school?
In quite a few cases (i'd not be surprised if this was near universal) the kid has either been reported for threatening someone with physical violence or otherwise displaying disturbing, aberrant behavior. IE, there are warning signs that get overlooked -- predating the actual shooting by months or weeks. These are not random acts, they are premeditated.
If you read the article, you'd see why they feel justified in cheating. The outrage shouldn't so much be that these students feel justified in cheating; but in the *extreme* and thorough corruption that their higher educational system has fostered.
It's much like professional cycling, cheating is so widespread and endemic, you literally have to be juicing to be able to compete.
You do realize of course that this country was founded on Liberalism right? Thomas Jefferson was about as much of a "Liberal" as you could POSSIBLY get. I mean he essentially channeled Locke word for word.
Is it actually Liberalism you hate? and not Socialism, Statism, Left-wing pseudo-Marxism, etc?
hold the phone professor. What cash shop are you referring to in ESO? Other than.. paying for a horse? or race choice?
F2p is more like "buy this potion for 2 hours of quadruple experience!" or "buy this uber sword of slaying!" ESO was selling fluff. The monthly fee + box sale is.. well maybe a bit outmoded, but it's been the norm for MMO's for quite sometime. Until, interestingly enough - the *actual* F2P games came out.
but dude, he's a frequent contributor.
i think something like this would be a case of "if you build it, they will come".

why mod down? this is a valid question. I find that I ask myself many times each day (before even the most minor of things): "WWBHD?"

Oh, right -- English might not be your first language. Meant both China and the US will do absolutely nothing to honor this agreement.
yep, Great Lip Service Accord of 2014. (though from both parties, not just China.)
better yet, i'm waiting for a policeman to walk into a movie theater with his cam running.

how do we know for sure that these features part of their HOST for explicitly this reason -- it could have acted as a FILTER for pathogens?
Without anonymity, there absolutely is a chilling effect, yes.
But your post ... 'even if your opinion is legal...'. is that a thing? Opinions being illegal, anywhere?

erm, i was saying that users 'walking away' in significant numbers would be the definition of a death knell for any organization.

I'm addicted to heroines too, my favorite is Elsa.

Zero carb dieting is the only thing that alleviates the constant panicky cravings for food when the hypoglycemia hits.
