I am seeing more and more of the data entry coming from the field via tablets. They are replacing the paper that used to come back to the office. Now the forms are being filled out electronically in the field and pictures of things like bills of lading and load reports, etc are being inserted right in to the forms and being transmitted.
The packets still get back to the offices but they are mostly archived and if used, it is only to sort out any issues with the data already in the databases.
Tablets/w cameras really have a place in the effort to cut down on paperwork. And smooth the business processes.
But a side effect of this will be, smaller office staffs , etc. And entry jobs such as data entry will become fewer.
I am working with businesses that provide all their drivers and equipment operators with tablets, which they use for everything from daily time cards to filling out job sheets and work flow processing.
But even more interesting is the question about.
What is it about today's culture and our society that makes normal individuals into individuals with no empathy. Who feel it is OK to murder innocents. in order to get their 15 minutes of fame and notoriteity on social media?
Are these big tech. and social media corporations part os that problem?
Everyone had a double edged razor, I still do, don't use it often though;)
Now we have multi headed razors that are so expensive the refills are kept in locked boxes;) lol The marketers are bragging about the number of blades and mositure strips;) lol
Anyway, so now it is a 3 camera phones, these smart phones are all getting so yesterday;)
so people just continue to throw their trash where ever they want. Seems like a losing battle to me. With their actions having no effect on the real problem, except maybe changing the nature of the trash everywhere, maybe what they are trying to do. I suppose if degrades faster that could have some effect. The piles might be smaller.
I was the third oldest in my class. And was required to register for the Selective Service (get a draft card) the same month I started my senior year in high school.
As a rural farm kid. I assumed I was going, even thought the government said 8 months earlier Jan 1973 that there would be no more draft calls. I did not make any plans beyond high school, since everything was up in the air. It was an odd time.
Some of the things that drive me crazy, are the lack of fiscal responsibility and outright dishonesty over the last 60 some years in government.
How anyone could think it it is OK to run up government debt, budget after budget with deficits, not properly funding the lavish pensions promised to public employees and now the outright corruption in the bureaucratic and political leadership in government. Just to name a few things.
Did the boomers run things well, the only answer can be no, not that well. Because the bill is going to be coming due soon. And most of the boomers that created the problems are going to be long gone or worst sitting pretty with their stash.
"woke up due to a word in background conversation", "At which point, the background conversation was interpreted" and "Alexa then interpreted background conversation as "right.""
OK, so these deices ARE listening to everything at all times. But don't worry. It will only be used in good ways.
I think the PR department is going to be working over time to cover this one over.
Valid point, I don't use Twitter, if blocking someone keeps them from commenting vs the recipient having to sort through things. There maybe a basis for the judgement.
To me the first amendment gives individuals the right to say things in public. This ruling seems to require that the recipient listen/read (deal with) what is being said.
So now if you are walking through the park and a government bueacrat/politician/loon is speaking you are required to stop and diligently listen? But then maybe this is one of those, just because it involves Trump, Federal Court Judgements;)
But so be it. We'll see how this comes out.
whether it be a Guild, Trade Group or Union the only ones guaranteed to make a good living are those running the organization. Because if they don't, the organization shuts down. But while the ride lasts they get paid first, regardless of their performance.
As a self employed contract computer programmer with 30+ years in, I do hope I am wrong and wish them success in their efforts.
Your average individual has tech that is way beyond their ability to manage and secure, So security is performed as an add on by 3rd parties. And the truth is most of these 3rd party methods are not up to the job.
It is not the fault of the user, since it is the vendors putting the devices out there for all. And not everyone is up to the job of properly managing their devices. It also does not help when vendors put inferior products out there, don't provide updates, etc. The normal user does not know or have the information to select one that makes the grade. In fact it is often true that security is seen as a hindrance to the ease of use and thus discarded by choice. As a result I think there will always be 100s of millions of compromised devices in the eco system.
Which leaves me with this answer, with out proper hands on management you can not have a secure environment for ones devices today.
"compulsory regulated training programs" your kidding? Right!
There are individuals I know I can count on and work with, then there is the 9 to 4 crowd (yes it is supposed to be 8 to 5) with an hour off for lunch bunch.
force down wages of their technical workers. I love the whining that they can not find workers. Truth is they can not find workers willing to work under their terms and conditions for the amount of money they want to pay. I really struggle to believe there is a shortage of workers in STEM in the US at all. I really think this is all about forcing down wages.
are they being buried in data and information? And by the time they sort through it all the intelligence maybe meaningless. Having to much chaff mixed in with the grain your looking for can be a bigger problem overall.
Cost per mile. If it work out finanically, maybe it will be tried. If not it will be like high speed rail in California between what, LA and San Fran. How is that project working out?
Sounds.like one of those great projects that work as.long as you never need to get it running and have not run out of other peoples money.
