I will ride in them, when I verify they have no special liability protection! Being involved in IT and Sensors and such. I do not think the time it right! It will come in 10 -15 years. But it sure is not ready today.
The only way they put these things on the road is with blanket complete liability protects from the GOV saying they are not responsible for anything bad that happens.
Will every Mom and Pop online store have to be aware of and process Sales taxes for each and every one of the 9000+ individual taxing districts in the us each Qtr.
Amazon is all for this!!!, because they want to close down and force these businesses in to Amazon Stores. Where Amazon skims the top 8-15% off every invoice total they process !. For their own profit.
The margins are not big, Amazon gets theirs either way. This will happen! And it will destroy small online sales.
But that is Amazons goal, one store, one vendor, one acquirer of wealth.
A POS of a company if this is true. They are praying on the ignorance of any customer unforunately forced to use them as an ISP. This Company is poison and extremely unethical to scare their customers that do not understand current tech!
block just the commentary/news/political web sites;) Right individuals with no clue!
Is this individual a real player, or a problem? That is the question?
My point was not how I grew up. But sub freezing temps and a snow filled environment;) and that does happen even in some large urban areas. I am not against electric, I just think there is some work to do yet.
TBH I have lived in the Twin Cities in Minnesota for the last 30 years;) and still lean toward having a 4 wheel drive vehicle. You have not seen a fun time until you have seen 5+ inches of snow on a week day/night.
The main roads are kept open, but the smaller cars can not get over the bank from the snow plows and every side street has 1-2 cars hung up trying to get to a plowed road.
Just be open minded, America is not a one size fits all;)
The cold and snow in the area. I grew up on a farm 10 miles from town in northern Wisconsin. Winter was tough at times. And cold does affect battery life and batteries in general.
It is one thing to use an electric car in southern California. Use one 10 miles from town, in 6 inches of snow in near/sub zero temps, spinning out, etc.
Also, if I need to pay 60k+, I will lean toward a Large, Gas Powered, 4 wheel drive, SUV.
But then, I am older and could be set in my ways and maybe don't see the light;)
We have paper ballots and unconnected standalone tabulators. The more tech, the more chance for issues, problems, etc.
Tighter voter ID would also be on my list for Voter Roll integrity. I am amazed when people just laugh about the number of dead individuals still voting;)
I annoy my wife because I leave my cell phone in my brief case most of the time. And don't hear it ring. To me it is a tool for me to use, when I have a need.
I also, don't have Facebook, Twitter or Netflix accounts. When people act surprised, I just say as a contract software developer I create Tech. I don't really have a use for it;)
But when I do get out and about, I can see exactly what the author is saying. A vast majority of individuals have their smart phone in their hand and seem obvious to the world around them. And most likely don't need to, beyond the physical need/addiction
my last Windows operating system I will use. I have 1 workstation at my office and one in my home office. I will not move to Windows 10 in any form.
I also run OS X, iOS and of course Linux workstations.
All my servers are Linux servers.
In my mind this is a great move by Microsoft they have finally pushed things to the point that I won't keep a Windows Workstation around in the future.
I worked for Control Data in the early 80's. While browsing through equipment in their Corporate Recovery Department with a friend of mine we came across several Plato Terminals (think is was 3-4) and we purchased them. We wanted to experiment with them, they were really ahead of their time.
Got them home and found out they had pulled all the display cards out. Otherwise they were complete. But Control Data kept any information and the cards themselves in-house. We were never able to do anything with them or get a hold of any display cards/information;) a real bummer.
User land tech is just an office type drama. Exception Office Space, for the humor;) was just funny
Entrepreneur tech is just crazy, social, rich individual type drama.
Actual Software Development, can not be put in video because it is thought, the ah ha moments, looooong periods of typing, doing, executing, reading, thinking, testing, a few Got Ya Sucker! moments;) All of which are, for the most part very hard to visualize let alone record in video in a way that someone who does not do it would understand or even care about.
So what they always end up with is, the side stories, social interactions, drama, etc, etc. with a little poorly done tech mixed in, to try and make it look techie;)
What it all comes down to is, to present most parts of IT, you need to understand that sub section of IT, which those not doing it can not do.
Example, On numinous occasions I have been sitting at a bar/where ever chatting with a friend/my son-in-law/etc (someone in the business) and people sitting next to us will just kind of look at us, shake their heads and move down the bar/go elsewhere;) And it was not because we were loud or anything;) Our conversation was so alien, I think it just ruined their piece of mind;)
Also, the IT/Tech fields are not special in this regard, there are many areas like this. I think that is why things always end up going back to the old formulas, drama, humor, social interactions, sex, violence, crime, etc. all packaged in an environment.
Washington Post, Article -> Re hashed by USAToday Journalist?? in USAToday??
From the Washington Post article :"a CDC analyst who attended the meeting but wanted to remain anonymous told the newspaper."
Someone needed to turn in an article, so wrote one about the Washington Post article saying such and such, and their proof is from an anonymous source from the original article.
"anonymous source" Who knows if it is true or not, so until a fact appears a sane person would disregard it!!
Decided to fire them. In the managers mind they have little/no value. The problem is, How get rid of these 2. Without looking like a heartless A-hole Manager type that everyone always whines about.
You are the Manager, MANAGE!
- If things start popping up that the competent IT staff can not handle. I guess you (the manager) were the problem!
- If things run smoother with a smaller staff, Good Call!
Of course you can carry/make good use of them until retirement. After all, they Were loyal for 30 years;) Is the Company going to be loyal to them?
Seems the real question is about the Company and Management.
What a Crock! Am 62, US Citizen, White and self employed independent IT Contractor. Do not fall for the standard Victimization. The moment you accept it, you can not fix your own problems! And that is what they want!
I would not use computers! Paper ballot feed in to (Yes computer based) non connected totaling systems. Just my 2 cents ;)
heading to -14 (temp not wind chill) the roads are snow covered with random slick spots and banks from plowing ;) Driver less cars right!
;)
They will only do it with absolute liability protections from the deaths.
Just my 2 cents
When the tech is ready, it will go in to pilot less airliners first! No cockpit crew! Until I see that I know cars are not ready.
;)
Just my 2 cents

Anyone voicing any opinion they don't agree with ;)
BOOM ;)
block just the commentary/news/political web sites ;) Right individuals with no clue!

"Scientifically Proven" attached to maybe some individuals are wound a little to tight ;) Lighten up and just take things for what they are ;)

Men are in trouble if this succeeds. Feminists are not all welcoming, open, forgiving or tolerant ;) lol

I had not thought of that point of view, But it is a relevant and humorous point ;) lol Nice!

Programming is just writing a very detailed set of instructions to perform a task ;) And you can write these instructions in many different languages.
