Today's new cold war is between a country that really, really wants to build stuff and a country that wants to assert intellectual property rights even over inventions it will not exploit, and have those rights extended until the heat death of the universe.
Qualified immunity doesn't give the police carte blanche to just blast away without thinking about who they might be shooting at. Police action is more legally restricted than then actions civilians might take in self-defense cases, because police are bound by professional standards. When these standards are violated, prosecutors have a duty to act.
The term may not be in general use in the police context, but the idea is the same: violation of the professional standards and training that apply to a specified job.

None of it comes from the fossil sources that are adding new carbon to the environment. Therefore if all the cows vanished today, the amount of GHG in the atmosphere would not change.
the manufacturing of the batteries for a Tesla produce a shit ton of CO2, so driving a battery-based electric car will do nothing for climate change.
The argument that X is not a carbon-free process because various elements in the mining and manufacturing chain of X use carbon is almost as stupid as the cow-fart argument.
As we go through the long process of wringing the carbon out of industrial processes, the total carbon it takes to do X decreases. Eventually there will be electric large mining trucks, taking that element out of every manufactured process that starts with mining.
