    I wonder what percentage of 15.4 million lines of code are tests. CPAN emphasizes on tests in every module submitted.
    In some cases the size of the test scripts is larger than the core code of the module.

    the negative part of this is that it eats up my precious real-estate with yet another toolbar

    The way I handle this is to collapse the toolbar and open it up only when I need it. (Click on the little down arrow on the left of the toolbar to collapse it.) You could also do it from View/Show-Hide.

    Note: This is in Mozilla, I have not completely moved to Firefox since Multizilla and Cookiebar extensions have not been ported to Firefox yet.

    Is something like Safari's or Google's AutoFill form feature.

    You mean like the AutoForm extension ?
    I have it setup so it will save and load form values only when I tell it to, but you can set it to do so automatically.

    Because The United Stated of America is a REPUBLIC. Yes the citizens are given the right to vote. But unlike a true (read: classical) democracy we do not vote on the specific issues, except in state or local elections.



    Its called Representative Democracy.

    I use a pillow as an insulator. This is at home and in hotel rooms when I am travelling. I doubt I would be carrying more stuff with me when I travel to insulate my "lap" from my laptop.

    I worked on the reservation system on Indian Railways. Could you believe all the tickets for about 15 trains getting booked in the first 3 minutes since they become available. Can you imagine what a system down condition would do in this scenario. I have seen near riot conditions when the terminals used at the ticket issueing counters broke down.

    How exactly is the average user supposed to do this with built-in wifi NICs in the case of WLans ? You cannot turn off the NIC until the OS has booted up.

    The Multizilla extension for Mozilla has this feature this. I get to select whether

    1. Do not send a referrer
    2. Send URL as referrer
    3. Send fake referrer
    You can specify what text to send in case of the last option.

    There is also the RefSpoof extension

    On a side note, in my webserver logs I noticed that someone was consistently sending the first couple of paragraphs from Lincoln's Gettysburg speech. I do not get the point.

    You should really give them feedback if the search does not pull up what you expected. At the bottom of the search results page, there is a link to the feedback page. After reading some of the posts by GoogleGuy over at the webmasterforums, I am convinced some of the folks at Google genuinely try to tweak the algo. to make searches better and remove the spammer's websites.
    If you know that a particular page is doing some underhanded thing to get their site to rank higher on Google, you can report it as spam.
    I am not saying that Google is perfect, just a little better than the others currently available.

    It would be nice if golf balls had RFID tags embedded. It would make it easier to find the damn ball when you hit the ball out of the fairway (like I usually do).
