No one remembers the Adventures of Kron? now that was graphical genius..
When I was 7 or 8 I was given a russian puzzle game now called tetris. I remember athletics taking me away from running my multi-node anti-fido net BBS and my precious tetris for weeks at a time. I was actually running the game in my head, and found the sequences with which I would device to produce pieces on the fly would actually advance as I practiced more. I can still play full on color tetris in my head with my own 'code.'
I bet Kevin has his own OS written in his head already.. and a few threaded apps too by now.. I would if I had been sittin around playing my 'games in my head.' He obviously has.
Same in Oklahoma City where I grew up, and Austin Tx, where I was for four years.. they had a tiny hold in New ORleans, and have a pretty good grip here in San Diego. Scary as hell.
I just upp'ed from a 200 mhz that I used to do the recording in my studio, limited video editing.. major graphics.. but I still had to use IE in order to get any kind of desirable surfing. Especially if someone is over my shoulder.
Noooow I have an athlon 2100xp with 1 gig ddr for my MASSIVE dvd video editing, 24 channel recording studio, chat, wi-fi porn war dialing, and MOZZILLA (in the shape of Phex) with an absolute feeling of euphoria every surfing experience. My slashdot time has doubled. Think about my porn hours.
IE has lost the game once mom and pop upgrade to modern machines.
bye bye

there was a game on one of the commadore or atari systems (I had both, many versions) called Mario Brothers. Luigi and mario were in a 'joust' style repeating side scroller with pipes, shell turtles, enemies and all before Super Mario Brothers on NES came out. It was by far my fav of the series. He always manages brilliant games.
You would think that if they use slashdot in order to find software and techniques that crack their attempts at 'protecting investments,' that by now they would understand that 'user profiling' is not generally liked or condoned by informed users.. in my humble opinion the modern day equivalent of 'racial profiling'.. the initsself modern term for a commonly rampant tendency for humans to generalize and profit of those generalization and the fears that follow. In this case, push technology is their answer to piracy finance losses. When I say loss I say it loosely and in a 'predicted forecasted maybe finacial gains report' kinda way. So, Why can't they get a grip and let customers come to them (with their supposedly superior product)? Why must they collect info on already paying customers when its been written as a disliked idea in popular science fiction (and general fiction/ some nonfiction) forever?

I'm no astronomer, but isnt it interesting in the least that the orbit is so close to earths with such a similiar length in orbit? Should not the trajectory/composition/dating be studied for maybe relevance in say, the formation of the moon or other interesting local phenomena?
1. Take donations from the open-fiber community to purchase these lines and turn them into open source peeer-to-peer Bluegrass mp3 and ogg file trading networks
2. Turn Oregon into a large Beowolf cluster and assign it the task of figuring out how to decentralized the Internet the Al Gore Invented
3. Dig all the lines up and make the worlds largest light-brite
4. Ask Microsoft to buy into a Ma Bell and bury enough copper lines to nullify the use of the fibers
no ones mentioned that.. they aren't following their own policies historically speaking (as you were stating) - ie, they as a party screw up - fire the finacial director (happened yesterday TWICE) for his beliefs, and march on. Same here.. terrorist communicate via methods they can't modulate or monitor.. whats the answer? the extremist 'your communication standard is very flawed, move away, nothing to see' rhetoric. What I suggest is a discourse on proposed solutions based on already funded projects and available academic projects within realm of interest, move to a panel (sp?)- then move to vote. Not a media driven declairation of fear. Bah humbug I say. Admit wrongs and make right decisions when they're obvious instead of reloading new men behind old issues.. new bonuses..
i hate you for saying it, but I agree.. I only invested in a ps2 thinking it would take the great lead with its year head start (and lot more titles).. alas.. it's starting to look like the same mistake pc games had back when vesa drivers exploded and simple 3d walk-around mazes flurried the download screens.. made me sick of them, and almost kept me from checking out doom (THANK GOD I reconsidered.. this was after castle wolfenstein).. in my opinion the PC games market didnt really pull itself out either.. the platform wars did that.. and it seems ps2 is killing itself off with the unfortunate release of DOZENS of clonish games.. I'll still be hanging on to sony until the ps/3 specs come out.. if they seem weird, I'll look to other platforms.

then why does the RIAA need to lobby hard and often to protect its profits from hordes of leet pirates? Are they all taking turns on the neighborhood pc?
bah. It's been accepted.. look how quickly new protocols and improvements occur.. and thats even WITH people trying to secure their financial position after said released devlopments.
while this is _mostly_ true, I find that most users who eventually find how quickly software gunks up if they're not cautious will react to _enough_ bad publicity regarding security holes. While this is sad, it isn't new. most people dont want to reck a ford escort or geo metro to find out its frame isnt the best.. they remember their best friends accident. So I say there should be a webpage up the collects reviews and counts holes in multiple software on mult platforms with high visibility.. Maybe then people would see which OTHER new unreliable software to favor.
Man, only two years of pda color releases here in the us and you're already judging the usefullness?? actually.. this could be transformed into an idea the might make commerce on the internet a little more profitable.. listen: there will always be a learning curve.. so a company will always have do it at home-er's like ourselves and then there's the aol crowd. Lets say some company gets the great idea to practically pay a few companys to install a very cheap chip into future products that allows them to communicate via [impules in electrical wiring, 802.11, cables, whatever] to a central 'hub' (a friendly little toy in the entertainment system [think mp3 player times 1000x], and all the info will be accessable via the web, and you may transmit your our personalized 'password' via a program similiar to todays chat clients (ala msn, yahoo, aol) to your computer from anywhere - whereby allowing a set of commands to do things you need to get done while you're away. the money to be made is in the client software (being that its *ahem* secure). And the great part will be that it will all be open source and we geeks can just pine our pron adverts away.;)
