Well, the fact ( from personal usage ) is that Nitrous injection via a plate between the fuel injection and the manifold has been around 1983. I also saw a mazda with a rotary motor having water injection and was told that it had No2. Seen Honda's that are pulling clean 13's (seconds) with No2 since late 80's. Had a Cosworth motor that could redline at 11K, that I ran No2 ( very light system due to fears ) to help me out of curves.
I can not recall the exact engine ( air ), but the year is 1944, the p-38 lightning ( Britains order) and the engine for the Huricane had No2 systems installed, tested, and aproved for usage ( if used I have no details ).
>>I'm talking about something capable of obliterating your enemy altogether.
Well you must be speaking about the meteor bomber, that's where they take a small slab of a harden metal (5 TO 10 meters in diameter ) in space and hurtle them directly the target. Since there is no radiation, just a good old thumping ( real large thumping ). Oh and a real big hole in the ground.
>>Because having to "prove it" isn't a free market.
free markets are http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Free_market
now if you are speaking of "prove it" as a problem, review the insurance phrase of Adverse selection: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adverse_selection
This might help you understand, that free markets in insurance do happen, when the insurance company can provide different pricing depending on the user of the insurance.

True statement, but if you are willing to set up a raid0 then you might as well set up a file backup program.
All I see about raid0 is that it's just one heck of a larger hard drive with better speeds and storage.
Anyway, if you really require this extra boost in your data rates, then your data has to have some value. Backing up is the first step in protecting your raid investment.
>>somebody would start out a Berkshire Hathaway mutual fund with almost-nil fees
That's what they did with the B series, there was 1 or 2 mutual funds that were doing just what you said. Seems that Warren Buffet did not like it and created a second set of stock that was at 1/100 of the current value ( or something along those lines ) to give small investors a chance to get in.
Well, interestingly enough I went researching more about this problem:
found this site http://www.tsp.gatech.edu/
then I came up with an interesting idea that might turn into something usefull for someone out there.
using some of the code for solving the problem, why not apply it for routers ( as another solution along with bgp ). Make the cost ping times. This might be interesting back up solution for a networks.
this might be very interesting for office networks and small switch networks within communities.
Well it really depends on what your willing to spend for a drive and the quality. I will agree, 10000 drives should give you about 2 to 6 failures per week. But I have seen that sometimes in a web server situation 10000 drives have a failure rate of about 15 per week. In one case ( very very bad case ) we had a batch of bad drives come in, the first 70 had a complete failure within 4 weeks then the rest of the order failed within 6 months.... we nevered ordered that model of drive again.
Now we have had some great luck also, where we found a brand that almost never failed for 12 to 18 months at a time, so we set up a specific policy that we used those drives as back-up redundancy drives for every main drive ( about 2500 drives ), to this day I have yet to see more than 1 failure per every 3 weeks with those drives.
Now I have a pc at home that has been abused daily and have never had drive failure, it's been turned on every day since 1999, so it cycles completely from hot/cold and sleep/aware. maybe I'm lucky but I've abused that drive consistantly ( and back up weekly ) so maybe I'm due.
Drive spin has become a huge factor in relation to drive failure in a web server farm. You want the fastest spin rate and at the same time you need the fast read times, but the faster spin rates give you higher failures, so you really have to learn to blend cache's, hardware and software and the dreaded mix drive raid.
Yep already happens for local calls at the airport if you look for the right phones. ( I lucked out at miami international )
I picked up the phone and it asked if I wanted to make a free local phone call ( up to 5 minutes ), so I listened to the advertising for something going on in miami, then it connected to the number i wanted.
no, but this morning at or about 6:45 to 7:30 am ( EST ) on the live nasa feed, an image of something came real close to the lander and moved the cammera, it was on the radio in miami Florida.
I called the radio station that was broad casting the news and told them it was most likely a " dust devil " of some sorts.
have you noticed the latest spam, it's repetive (same ) on the subject line over multiple message and ( in my perception ) written like a regular subject line.
maybe they are trying to flood these filters to start producing false reports.
I came to this conclusion due to about 1900 spams I recieved in the last 4 days, out of the 1900, 400 had the same subject line 5 to 7 times, another 700 had the same subject line 3 to 4.
I don't understand Baesian filters yet but I would think, that this sort of spamming might create multiple false reports.
I would consider 450K systems that are breached, under the control of 1 group, a concern for national security.
that's alot of fire power someone holds and can easily place a company out of web side of the buisness.
but the good thing is that I have taken this as something serious, and have slowly made sure that when i report spam i try to call the ISP. don't know if it is working but maybe it will help.
What most here are not really looking at is not the 51% rule but all they need is a board seat.
once on the board ( 3% of the public float) then they can make a tender offer for more. With the new laws in effect after Enron and others, the tender must be reviewed carefully and if they don't accept they might be subjected to sharehold legal action.
very careful steps have to taken since boards now have to sign documents also.
>>US. Space Command has been making this argument since the '80s
100% correct, if there is another battle in space the main first objective of china will be to use cheap missles that knock out most known communication/spy satalites.

Being a person that has always filed memo's, used lawyers and have been asked to postpone my paycheck....
I do the following, I have my lawyer draft up an IOU signable by an officer and 1 witness. What happens is that I became a bond holder of the company, that gave me rights to assets above the shareholders. Which in many cases turned out to be a great thing. I exercised this right recently and became second in line to all the assets of a firm ( first was the IRS )
as for the right's of the ceo to take the money.... he could have, and in most cases if people don't fight for there right to get there paycheck, they leave a paper trail of how it is ok for the CEO to not pay them on a regular scale.

a 51 .html

oops, I ment to say it was a medical lawsuit. There was a toxic health issue in which atleast 1 person died.
there is a reference to this a few area 51 sites and the president at the time had to sign some sort of order to let disclosure happen
maybe nut it was a medical law suit that made it become acknowledged.

Many web hosting companies run on 2.4 kernel, to switch back would be the nightmare of hell.

You seemed to be mis-informed, those little info signs are state regulated ( atleast in NY NJ and CT ) and are paid for by the business on that sign.
also the same rules apply to the adopt a highway, you ( the adopter )pay for a sign that is placed on the road after you have clean up the road.
Adopt a highway is a great program.
